I know im not supposed to use anything with ammonia to lean the glass itself; but what is best to use to get glass crystal clear while still being safe? Inside and outside of the tank btw. Thanks again!

Yeah I spray a Costco microfiber towel with glass cleaner in another room then go to town. As for the inside of the tank I use a 99c Dobie pad and that takes care of it all.
I highly recommend the Dobie pads.

I wipe glass with damp paper cloth to clean. Then follow up with dry cloth.

Spit shine also works

I do this all day every day.

it was my understanding that using windex or glass cleaner with ammonia was detrimmental to the health of the livestock in the tank. I guess thats not true though?

Vinegar.

Sorry I thought you mean to clean the tank as you said inside and out... I use this- just cause I bought a couple bottles for really cheap. Otherwise just some RODI and a paper towel.

it is true but just try to not get it into the tank. do not spray windex directly on it or onto anything you use inside the tank. I also do not wipe near the top of the tank or the seams of the tank just to be sure.

What is a Dobie Pad?
They are made by scotch Brite and the have a sponge in the middle but am abrasives mesh on the outside. They don't fall apart and they are durable which makes them perfect for cleaning the glass. Give it a Google search.

You guys are too paranoid, glass cleaner right on the tank. Wipe it off. I use a mag float with razor attached for inside. And Mr clean magic eraser for tight spots
