I bring them to the LFS who support ecological ways of reefkeeping. They recycle corals from succesfull reefers in a fair way.
Led is fine with most flat scapes and most lps/plate corals.
I prefer T5 because it's been a proven concept and idiot proof. I do like the wow factor in leds, so i will combine them in the future tanks.

I run a combo of LED, T5 and 400W radiums. There are direct replacement LED T5 lamps you can run for not much money and see what they look like. These guys are going out of business but you can try LED on your tank for cheeeeeep. http://www.euroquatics.com/

After the total rescape i introduced a few new species in my EZ550reef.
A good friend took a reefing sabatical and donated all his corals. I promised him that i would take good care of them. if he re-enter the hobby he can pickup all his corals.
So you see not everyone leaf the hobby due too many failure. Some just want to take a break.
