hello there I am trying to buy some live stock and would like try different stores and these two stores have caught my eye from their web page. How stocked are they in saltwater fishes and do they have a variety at good prices? How often do they have new livestock?

Just went through global aquatics yesterday. It looks like a wholesaler after the doors close. Unless you have a qt don't go there. All the water is running through the the same systems, so if one fish has parasites or disease they'll all be carriers. He doesn't run copper but I'd say about 60% of the fish had visibly something wrong with them or were dead. The coral selection was bare bones and every frag plug either had apstasia/hair algae/bubble algae. Shops geared more towards freshwater and ponds.

Seems like you're looking for a true "local" fish shop. There aren't really any in the IE. Jan's tropical is marginal for livestock but leap and bounds above global. There's a new store opening in San Bernardino though. Not fully up yet but he just made his first trip to a wholesaler for fish to hand pick so I'm sure he's got some beauties over there now. Pm me and I'll let you contact him directly.

wow thanks for the info and yes it would be great if another store opened near me. On the website it looks big but it is a concern that all the water runs all togheter. Didi they have a lot of different fishes to offer?

Global Aquatics blows. Super overpriced and like they said, there is the issue of disease. Coral selection is not great and again, overpriced. Jan's is decent for dry goods like medication and food. The fish selection isn't too bad, but you won't find anything rare. Mainly bread and butter stuff. They have a tiny frag tank with overpriced frags and two large tanks with LPS that is blasted by Chinese LEDs and don't look all that great. Mystic Reef is a used car lot. They're super annoying and I will never shop there again.

The best shops are in Orange County.

Mark, one of the guys from Coral Collection is opening his own shop in San Bernardino and hopefully it'll turn into something good.

Pm him directly for more info. I don't think he's officially open until the end of the month. Maybe.

Global aquatics= very old school store. It was originally suppose to be a wholesale place but they never ended up shipping livestock through Ontario airport. That's why it resembles a wholesale warehouse. I have been going there for many years and the fish never look good. It's a big place but I feel it's a bit high on the pricing. I do go there when I'm in the area and check out the used section in the back. Sometimes you can find some sweet deals.
Tropical reef= it's an average sized fish store, the biggest reason I go there is the owner. I have known Jason from the forums for many years, even before he had I store. He is a wealth of information and has great livestock. If there is something you need but he doesn't have he can usually get it for you pretty quick. I have bought plenty of livestock from him and was always happy with my purchase. There are also some really cool store in the OC and San Diego area but I hate driving that far

Hahaha mystic reef. It's like the guy forgets I have been there before and I already know the routine. You look at a frag and he tells you $200. You take two steps away and it drops to $150, look at something else and now it's $75(only for you). The other brother who doesn't work there that much is one of the smartest reef guys I have ever met. He has done a few meetings talking about different topics and is just a really nice guy. Mystic should really consider slapping prices on the sides of there tanks instead of always playing "let's make a deal".

+1 on Jason's shop, I never left unhappy or hesitant but usually like a kid leaving a candy shop in a hurry to get some cavities! Jason has some good stuff! Jan's in Montclair probably one of the cleanest fish stores I been in. Not many corals to choose from but definitely good for fish and supplies.

This MAK corals place sounds interesting. I dont care much for pet world and will not purchase live organisms from them.

The location for MAK is awkward, but anything close to home is just fine to me. Looking forward to walking in there soon.

I ALWAYS feel welcome at Jan's, and they are extremely clean and patient, but when driving that far from Redlands, I feel like I might as well drive all the way to OC.

I stopped by Mark on the way home today at 4:30 and they were closed. No hours posted. Looked more like a wholesale front than a retail store.
