UPDATE:

Hey SCR's! It's been a while since I've been on the SCR sight. I guess I've been really busy with other things lately. I let my tank kind of get out of control and it's had many param swings in the past 6 months. Plus, trying to figure out my LED/T5 light combo hasn't been easy (for me). The LEDs were bleaching some of my corals so I've been playing around with the settings, etc. over time.

Well my awesome wife got busy on the tank yesterday and did a 4 hour thorough cleaning. Guess what I discovered in my overflow wall? Rusty magnets that have been exposed to the tank! I'm pretty sure this has been causing issues. Plus, I just ordered some new BRS dosing supplies and figured out I've been mixing my MAG totally wrong fro who knows how long. So, with the tank cleaning, getting the dosing all back in order and params right, removing the 2 magnets and mixing my MAG correctly...I think there's HOPE! It's been a very humbling experience watching my beautiful tank suffer in the last 6 month. I'm feeling the pain of others who have posted struggles.

I just snapped another bad GOREEF camera FTS. I can't wait to compare to the next pic I post in 6 months. I'm getting my reefing momentum back and it feels real good.

Tank params are dialed in again! Corals are very happy, growing and coloring up. Always looking for trades of any nice SPS frags.

So my tank has been back on track lately and I'm having fun again. These are the things you can do with with turning your LEDs to more of a white light to take "close-ups" with my phone camera and a magnifying glass. Still sad photos...lol. McGuetto.

Hello my SoCali peeps,
So I finally bought a nice camera. I had too for business stuff. I used an AvastMarine tube for some underwater shots. They turned out amazing (for me) IMO. The only issue is the white reflection ring I'm getting. Seems like the white translucent tube is causing issues with light getting through it and then reflecting back into the shot. I'm not sure if this has been a complaint by others using it. I'd think that a solid black tube would have been a better design (I could be wrong). I need to call them.

Anyways, please let me know what you guys think. I'd love some feedback from those of you that know what they're doing. I'm a total noob with using a camera. It's a Canon EOS Rebel T5. I used the standard 18-55mm lens with the Avast tube in Auto Focus mode. Not bad eh?

Nice pics man! Try somehow blocking out the gap between the camera lens and the camera side of the tube. You may be able to run a piece of weather stripping inside the tube to form a light-tight seal with the lens barrel. I'm pretty sure that's where you're getting that reflection. Try wrapping it with a bandana or something first to see if that's the problem before doing the weather stripping deal though.
