Finally got back in with a new tank. Planet aquarium 36x20x20. Starfire. 5/8” glass. External overflow. Trying to figure out how I’m gunna fit this big a$$ skimmer underneath there. No fuge on this setup, not enough space. Gotta fit a Reefmat, the Akula skimmer, and a return pump. Plus a calcium reactor and a co2 bottle. Wife said nothing outside the stand since it’s in our kitchen.

Plan is to do a full SPS tank. Big Geo calcium reactor. 2-MP40s. 3- XR 15 radions. Also looking at other LEDs. I kinda dig the ATI Straton.

Once I get close to filling the tank, I’ll start a build thread. Just excited to get back in to this hobby. I definitely missed it.

How about getting a nice cabinet to the left of the tank to house your calcium reactor setup?

Looks clean there.

Why did you shut down the big tank?
We moved. No way I was gunna try to keep things alive and move the tank. Way too hard. Moving is such a pain. Now that I’m settled in the new house. (3 years later.) I decided it was time for a tank. Plus my 5 year old daughter is starting to get into it. I took her to norco reef lounge last week, and she fell in love with some fish. Be fun to teach her about all this stuff too.

Nice.....
Two 2" holes and you could plumb everything to the other side of the wall....LOL
I would totally do it. Unfortunately, the back side of the wall is my patio and bbq island. I can’t have a sump and equipment outside. Won’t work in this location. If I move my tank to the downstairs room, I can plumb everything into my outside shed. But then i won’t be able to enjoy the tank as much. I’ll just deal with it. I’m already thinking about ordering a new tank with bigger dimensions. Might make some phone calls on Monday and start getting pricing.

I would just do kalkwasser and all for reef or some 2 part. Also, Luca from Quanta Lights is coming out with a new LED fixture, which should be promising. I love the dimensions, as I have a 36x36x16 and love it. I also would just do a simple glass sump with maybe a baffle or two. I think 99% of sumps out there are overpriced and poorly designed. Just some thoughts to bounce around. Looking forward to this thing getting wet. Cheers!

The ultra reef is a GREAT skimmer. I run one as well. Does yours have the dc pump upgrade?

That tank looks nice and clean. It looks perfect I that spot too. Your daughter is going to love it. The tricky part is getting everything to fit inside that stand. Wifey said the same thing about nothing outside of the stand, which makes it hard.
