I have had this beautiful Achilles tang for a month or two, he eats every kind of flake, not sure yet about pellets. I got through the stage when every other Tang was beating up on it, now everybody gets along.

So today, I was adding a few new corals to the tank. The Achilles decided to taste the superglue gel before I could mount the frag on the aquascape. What the......!

Been this way for about 1/2 an hour. Sorry abut the iPhone pic but sticking out of his mouth is a nice blob of superglue gel. Who would have thunk? I have had something similar happen to other fish but not where their whole mouth appears sealed.

From ur last picture, looked like he is loosing weight. Are u planning to net him out so that u can remove that glue?

I was thinking that too but might cause more stress and with this heat and being an ick magnet :/

Dilemma whether to net or not. I am concerned if I net him that may create too much harm/stress. His activity is good, but... This guy wasn't all that fat to start with and then getting used to fellow tangs wasn't easy either. More or less holding my breath for now

Why don't you net him, remove the glue and quarantine it for a couple of weeks, in case he goes develop ick, due to the stress. That way you'll be able to treat the ick without affecting your main display

starting to look thin. My tangs get more food from grazing algae than from my feedings. might be hard with glue lips? consider trimming off glue with scissors & dab some vinegar or acetone on his grazing surfaces. if hes going to starve anyway might as well try, or at least weigh him on a coin scale, observe him 1 week, reweigh then intervene

Maybe have a friend come over (reefer) and hold the fish for you while you remove the glue with some tweezers. Better than a net I'd say.

But normally I would agree with sanh I've had that happen (not that big of a glob) and a few days later it would fall off.

I thought it would have fallen off by now. I would def net him and get that glue off. I'm sure if u had him in a net, u could reach in and tear it off. Rather have a stressed tang then a dead tang
