what defines the amount of flow through a sump? why does it matter what youre keeping in the fuge?
thanks
When you have Cheato in the refugium you want it to be be moving so that the light is evenly distributed and that flow is going all over the Cheato, this is usually happens when the flow is about 20 times the gallons in the refugium. If it is a DSB refugium then you are going to want a slow flow rate so that the sand is not disturbed.

ahh. i see, its all so clear to me. i have chaeto and a dsb in a 20 gallon fuge. the chaeto doesnt tumble though. i have about 1200gph goin through it. i flip the chaeto over periodically and it still grows very well. seems to work well for me. thanks for your answer drew.:yo:
