Finally stopped procrastinating on setting up my ghl doser. Gonna dose 10 ml alk and cal to start. Its on my table lines are primed and taped measuring cups to a chair hoping by 9 tomorrow night the cups will have the 10mls in each.

Anyone use the GHL doser? I hope I set it right but seemed easy enough. 2 doses at 5mls each for both. Wish me luck.

I'm using a GHL and so glad that I made the choice. All of sudden I couldn't keep my ALK stable, but once I dialed the GHL doser in, I seem to be maintaining a consistent 9.5 ALK. A lot of trial and error with adjusting, but well worth the investment!

I have a question for you doser guys. When I primed the lines they are full of fluid up to the doser, but on my cal line to the tank... there is about a 2" air gap after the pump head, then the fluid goes all the way down the line. But on the alk line to the tank, there is about 8" of an air gap after the pump head before the line is full. I kept pouring the fluids into a cup and the gaps remained the same. Is this normal or a problem? Thanks.

Just flick the line as you prime

Did you calibrate the doser?

You hold the prime for 1 minutes and see how much was pumped. Then you tell it how much was dosed in calibration mode. After that you will get 10ml if you want 10 ml

No I didn't ... shoot... but I got it used from another member. Should I calibrate anyway?

Yea. It's best to do it when it's already set up anyway so that it's most accurate.

After that. If you're trying to calculate how much you need to dose let your tank go for a week without dosing anything and test daily. You will see a pattern of how much it falls and use the BRS calculator to tell you how much needs to be dosed daily. It takes all the guesswork out.

When I wasn't lazy, I was dosing 4mls of each per day hehe but my alk is a little low right now... about 6.5. I'd like to get it to about 8.5.

Take the week to test and calculate. Otherwise you will be adjusting that thing daily like a calcium reactor until you get it going lol.
