Ok guys, I plan on buying my new gadget(s) tomorrow. What do you all think?? Should I go with a gyre or 2 Quite Drive MP40s? I have two MP10s now on my 70 gallon Cadlights.

if the MP40s were at the previous price point (400 or whatever) I'd say gyre. But now? Get a pair of MP40s and call it a day.

I had 1 gyre, and found that even with the amazing flow it provided, I still had some dead spots. You'd need a second gyre to stir up crap the other way.

I think two mp40s are overkill for a small tank like that. I would get a gyre and keep your mp10s and position them where you need to. But I personally am selling my gyre and upgrading the driver on my mp40. The gyre can be loud at higher settings.

I just replaced the Gyre 150 for two MP40w quiet drives, due for the facts that the Vorteh has a small foot print, super quiet, not as bulky, compact and less real estate taken in my 100g Cadlights Artisann II.

The MP40S are proven workhorse pumps, but the Gyre will flow more and with new rubber mount is very quiet. I also think the gyre hides better, I have mine on Euro brace and I can clean my glass without working around a pump. I have kids and their friends would always touch and knock Vortech's off. I still use Vortech on my smaller tanks, but the Gyre is a beast.

I have a 150 in my 65 and, although it moves a ton of water, it looks very bulky in the tank. It's about half powered and still causes a mess of sand if I move it the wrong way. If you can afford the two Mp-40's, I would go that route.

You are going to get a mixed reviews on both of these without a doubt.

The Vortech pumps are proven and has been in the market for quite sometimes now. The new version of the mp40w is super silence and does what it advertised. Whereas, the Maxspect Gyre just entered the market around mid to late of last November. If my memory served me well. The Gyre will can moves a body of water and the earlier version experienced some noise issue, but it can be added the rubber pad to reduce the noise.

Both are nice equipments and do their job for any tank size, IMO. Just go with what like and what you can afford in this money drain hobby.

Have fun with your buying decision!

My money is on Vortech. The Grye is great at doing what it does but in a display tank I find it very bulky and unattractive. The MP 10-60 are much less noticeable and wont distract you or others from your beautiful tank ;)
