The magnet suspension kit will tame the noise, my wife did not like mine either, but now you cant hear it. All the new pumps come with this kit standard and you can buy it from Coralvue web. Must have for original Gyre with solid mounted magnet.

It wasn't the noise, she actually didn't like where I had it placed. She wanted to be able to see tank from all side of the tank with out any objects on glass.
