All i know about it is that is that it is literally right across the street from me and so i always see lots of professionals in their 30's and 40's going there so that can speak volumes of the university and what it offers or say nothing at all. Lol...sorry i cant be of more help.

Dont do it. They suck. I went there for 2 semesters and left and there trying to charge me for 3 semesters.
As for the degrees heres an example...
If you attend thier classes and get a teaching degree from them they will NOT hire you as a teacher because your degree is from them.

Every UC, CSU, CC in the state of CA. needs to be acredited every few years. It is a process that can take a few months, but the preparation is much longer. The school's board of directors/ board of trustees requires things from the school president, he/she in turn requieres things from deans, they in turn require things from department chairs they in turn require things from faculty or staff. The "things" include curriculums, quantity of employees, opinions on how to improve the institution, and many many other things. It is unfair to call all the work that goes into this process things but I can't list it all. Think of it as an internal audit, then pears from other institutions evaluate all the information and if they like what they see the institution gets the accreditation for a few years. This is an iterative process.

So, any institution, or program that is not acredited is not worth attending. "Is this programs acredited by a state/national independent board? is first question you should ask a U of P recruiter, I refuse to call the counselors.

Cons
- it's a for profit
- classes don't mean **** if you ever want to get further education

Pros
-May be perfect for the job you want.
- May start your intrest in school

Wondering if you could share what you are trying to do there might help too.

Have you looked into local jc

I don't know much about the school beyond their BSN program, however quite a few managers I've worked with graduated from there. Apart from price they didn't have any complaints.

However that isn't meant to downplay the previous responses. Sadly it is a for profit and, depending on accreditation, may prevent you from some jobs or full transfer credits to another school

University of Phoenix provides a good (not great) education. Sadly they used to have a very bad reputation and despite improvements they are still looked down upon by hiring managers. It used to be known as a buy a degree program. If you are going to drop the kind of money they require please look at other programs that have a better repuation. I finished my degree at Pepperdine for about a 100 dollars a unit more, 600 vs. 700, and I have a lot more respect for my degree. The school you attend has a direct relationship to your hiring power and ability to influence your salary. The couple of grand you will spend for a Pepperdine U. will come back to you very fast. Plan out the long term value of your education. FYI, I built computer systems for large Fortune 100 companies, including for HR departments, this is the way they think.

If you find an employer that looks just at the degree rather than the University name you will be fine. Might want to look into a foreign own employer and see that three letter word like MBA and think you are qualified and you really got your degree from a University in Phoenix in Arizona.

I am trying to become a police officer then move up to swat
Then go to community college they have very good criminal justice programs and they offer financial aid translated to free education. You are looked and taken for granted when you apply for position when you have U of P. My buddy got his education there and went back to college because employers looked at his degree as an inferior degree. Now he works for sheriff department in ELAC
