Hello :) I'm active on another general reef forum and was advised by members there to post here about my experience so far. I apologize if this isn't allowed here or violates any rules.

Recently ordered two rimless tanks from Lee Mar and am having a hell of a time with the quality and customer service.

Both tanks have multiple scratches, one on all three viewing panes (two that are deep), air bubbles in the silicone, spacers visible in the corners of the front panes, sloppy overall (in my opinion) silicone job and chipping (from cutting the glass) along edges that weren't "diamond edged". One even came in chipped, has a funky notch in the overflow (router didn't go straight down and back up) and the right pane isn't squared up with the front pane. The "diamond edge" job isn't nice and uniform and there are some heavy grinding/polish lines at the ends of the panes.

Also ordered two stands from them which are both lacking in quality.

I'm after pictures of the quality Lee Mar tanks I know are out there as well as any personal experiences dealing with Lee Mar concerning quality issues.

Thanks for any help! I've included the pictures I have so far.

Wow. I was gunna say u were over reacting (typically LeeMar has top notch quality) , but those pics look pretty bad. I would def have to agree with u. Get ur money back, or a new setup.

Good luck

Got it from a store in Roseville. They are communicating with Lee Mar about the problems, but so far Brian (their master tank builder) isn't being very receptive (he claims both tanks I purchased were prefect). Mark, one of the owners sons, is supposed to call me personally Monday.

It is good to know I'm not over exaggerating though. Was worried I was expecting too much from Lee Mar.

For the price u have to pay for the tanks, they better be perfect. Those pictures do not look right. Do not feel bad about complaining, or thinking u expected too much.

Thanks :)

I decided to pay for the Lee Mar premium because I wanted the best. Both tanks will be in my living room and I wanted a nice look, tanks and stands.

Hoping they replace both tanks and don't try to stick me with them...

its like buying a mercedes full of dents.. good luck with the resolution!
Thanks :) Any idea how they generally handle problems like this?

I am afraid I would give the seller a written ultimatum and time span (say 14 days) to resolve the issue by replacing the tanks or you'll take them to court for the cost of the tanks.

On the rare occasion something like this happens, Lee Mar is really good about making it right. Just give it time. May take a few weeks but they will resolve it

I know the LFS I ordered it from is ultimately responsible since I'm their customer and they are Lee Mars. But I really don't want to have to do something like that to them. Doesn't seem fair that they suffer because Lee Mar dropped the ball :( Not exactly sure of their cost, but I'm in the tanks/stands about 3k... I've bought a lot of other stuff from them as well.

This is what I'm hoping happens, but can't help but freak out in the mean time!

They will take the tanks back and fix the problems but don't get your hopes up on new tanks.
I had a customer who had a few imperfections and Brian took care of the issues but it took couple months.

Bummer. It's like a kid getting tons of presents on Christmas but having to return all of them. I hope LeeMar fixes their problem.

I understand where you are coming from but why should you suffer and wait weeks because they didn't QA their stock delivery.

They should replace the tanks and then return the faulty ones for credit from LeeMar.

I would just reject them as not of satisfactory quality. Don't forget if you paid with a credit card you have some protection there too.

There seems to be too much of this BS in the dry goods side "that the manufactures want to resolve the issue, we can't help you" - watch that fall flat on it's face in a small claims court...

That is extremely discouraging :( One tank is chipped, the other has scratches (two deep ones) on the front/sides and both have very poor edge polishing. The only way to make this right would be to build two new tanks, reusing glass wont cut it. Two months isn't reasonable either...

Paid with cash unfortunately. I have rejected both tanks as far as my LFS is concerned and probably the stands too. You think Lee Mar would give them a refund on the two bad tanks/stands?

That is terrible. I would demand a new one or a full refund.
This is basically how I feel at this point.

I don't know and to be honest it isn't your problem.

I would put your rejection of the goods in writing - just to cover yourself...

I have a Lee mar and love the tank. When I saw the pics I was a little shocked on the quality you received. I had a buddy order a tank (a 225 euro braced) when he went to pick it up there was a chip along with the panels being offset. For the price you pay you expect perfect. What a bummer. Hope all this gets resolved.
