Funny, I was about to order a Lee Mar 50 gal custom tank today...not sure what to do and who should build it now??
Hi John,
IMO I'd order the tank from LeeMar. I guarantee you if you Google ANY other brand you'll see complaints. No business is perfect. I suspect that you were going to order your tank from LeeMar because of the great rep you've heard they have...until you read this thread. Their tanks are not built perfectly, so if you're looking for micro air bubbles in the silicone seams then you might be let down. Who builds perfect tanks anyways? LeeMar tanks will usually catch your eye in any LFS because they stand out. They're usually very clean... but NOT perfect. So beware.

Without naming names I have seen in person other tanks from local manufacturers that don't come close to the quality of leemars despite the small issues you are having. I'm talking terrible silicone jobs etc. not just some tiny little bubbles. Not to say I would be happy with those imperfections you OP are reporting... I'm just saying that I don't think your gonna find a 100% perfect tank. Another friend who ordered from another highly regarding glass tank manufacturer and got screwed with for about a year before getting anywhere and a refund from them. He won't ever try that co. again.

I am very happy with my Leemar and would have no problem ordering another sometime in the future.

So I got my new leemar tank in and it looks pretty good, a couple minor scratches on the eurobracing. A few small bubbles in the silicone and a small gap in the silicone on the outside of the overflow box,the box is perfectly sealed on the inside. So I'll dab some silicone on the gap and call it a day.
Overall I'm happy with the tank, but they would be well served to implement a final inspection to their Qc system. It would have caught the gap and then they could have fixed so the tank would have been as perfect as you can expect.

Where I work we are an AS9100 certified aerospace company, and adding a final to our already stringent QC system caught a lot of issues before they got to the customers. That said this is the third tank purchased from Leemar and I wouldn't have a issue buying another. ImageUploadedByTapatalk 21360198116.856091.jpg ImageUploadedByTapatalk 21360198143.782469.jpg

Here's an update
So I went thru age to let leemar know of my issue with my tank and to see about getting some sealant to fill the gap. And I got an email saying I could contact leemar direct, so I emailed Brian at leemar and sent him some pictures.

He replied the same night after hours and Apologize for the error and said he would send out the truck the next day to pick up the tank. Brian kept me informed and I had my tank back in less then a week. So my fourth tank when I buy it will be a leemar.

This is what a great company does for their customers. I haven't read anywhere that LeeMar claims to build perfect tanks..it's how they respond to customers with problems. Thanks for sharing.

Every company has bad experiences. It's how they make up or their errors that can make or break a business. You have to accept small errors but gaps in silicone, cracks and air bubbles are unacceptable. if you pay a lot because of the high quality they are supposed to be then you expect that. Try ordering from fujimoto aquariums and see what you get. You should get what you pay for

The air bubbles are by no means microscopic! Take a close look at the pictures and keep in mind the glass is 1/2" thick. I could have got a better tank/stand if I went with Aqueon, don't really thing I'm being too picky about the problems with everything.

I do woodworking, have since I was little, and it is very easy to make proper 45 degree cuts so molding lines up properly. Someone that builds stands for a living should have it down to a science. Same with building tanks...
Wow seriously you do wood work n ur crying about that, i could fix ur **** stands n u would never know wit maybe 5 bucks in materials,.Wood fill, n sanding paper,. Come on now. If you did wood work you would know that. Also why didnt you build your own stands n save probably a grand,.. Wow so to you i say, stop crying like a five year old. And grow some hair on your chest or other places!!

Not cool going after a member that is not happy with a product because of a quality problem. You seem to not be happy with Vivid because of quality and pricing maybe you should stop crying too?

But why should he when he paid good $$ for it???

I can fix my truck but if I brought a new one I wouldn't expect to be sorting out the body work or engine issue.

Regardless if he's a woodworker or not, he paid top dollar and expected top quality. He shouldn't have to touch his new stand or tank.

I work at a restaurant, that doesn't mean I won't go other places to eat. Ur reasoning is a little off.
