So Im heading to HI for the firs time next week, since Ive never been to Hawaii Id like to some quick general advice on what to bring and what to do. Ill be in Waikiki for five days and plan on one day of scuba diving. The diver that I work with is taking me out to some of his hot spots!!! So far thats all I have planed Advice?? By the way I will have my own car during the entire trip.

Also on a side note, because of the new site name our server hasnt blocked out this site yet so Ill be around very often or at least until its picked up and blocked again.

Should be an awesome trip, the weather should be like Southern Cali. I went last year for the Probowl. I highly recommend Pukadog haha, it was on the Food network for one of the best hot dog places. Also Duke's is a cool place to chill, you have to try their Hula pie. As you can tell I like to eat. I'm sure you're going to the top spots to check out sea life but I went snorkeling at Turtle Bay. That's a little bit pass North Shore, but for the "cool" spots PM me....*wink wink*

Have fun, are you going to get more Hawaiian flame wrasses?

Hanauma (sp) bay is great for snorkling. Its a fun trip if you rent scooters in Waikiki and ride them to the bay, it takes about 30 minutes and its a lot of fun. When you go there make sure you time the tide and swim OVER the reef and get to where the caves are, you will see some good stuff. But make sure you time the tide, getting back will be difficult.

Hanauma bay is pretty cool but this time of year you may not see as many fish as in the winter. I did both and noticed a drastic difference. You can plan the tide, but don't worry if you can't, the viewing will be spectacular regardless. Also, just off waikiki beach, is pretty good if you don't mind searching. The reefs are spacial so you have to do a lot of swimming but I saw moorish idols, tons of different tangs (yellow and powder blue mainly), many triggers, wrasses, etc. Don't forget to bring frozen peas. The tree huggers will tell you not to because it "disrupts their normal diet" but if you bring it, they will come. Seriously, hundreds of fish will surround you and you can take tons of pics. Don't forget an underwater camera. If you want, I have snorkel gear (his and hers) that you can take with you but pick up and delivery will be in San Diego.

Well I already got back :D but yes Hanauma Bay was nice, I liked the rock formation a lot. There wasn’t tons of fish but there were plenty to see; lots of huge tangs. I’ve done the frozen peas thing while diving in Catalina and can say it’s almost scary how many fish will swarm you. You’ll literally see nothing but thousands of fish coming at you and even when you’re out of peas they’ll stock you as you swim away.
