hello all, New to this site, or any for that matter, was refered by a co-worker. having a difficult time with reef, currenlty have a 125, w/about 150 lbs rock, 4" sand bed. 4 PC, Wet/dry converted to a tub, in-line sock, skimmer located in tub (have one hangin on back also, not running) been runnin salt for almost two years and never came into this: here we go. ALOT of short grass grown to include on my rock and snails, cut back on compacts and feeding still not. so bought new skimmer installed yesterday, have foxface to help eat along with more snails and a few more crabs.. any help would be greatly appricated. Welcome to Socalireefs
high nitrite and high phosphate is y you got it the best way to rid your tank of it is to lower both of them. the best way to do that is water changes. you said you need a test kit and that is true butt if you test high on them that mean water changs. so that being said just save some time and do the water changes. if you dont have any sps in your tank drop your light's down to 4-5 hrs a day till you get alge in check. ps i got 200 lb of rock for sell 2 buck a pound. im located in the high desert.

Welcome to the site
Salifert good be a good test kit . but they're hella expensive. I used API test kit which is about 1/5 the price of Salifert. But like someone have said doing regular water change will help. I only test my water when I first set up my tank, now that my tank is established, I do regular water change and rarely test the water anymore.
