Hello everyone,

My name is Efrain Lara. I am married and I have a beautiful daughter. I like long walks on the beach ...lol jk on a serious note. I live in Carson. My wife and I take my daughter the LB aquarium often. We all enjoy watching the marine fish. I am planning on setting up a large fowlr and a small reef tank. I have some equipment already.

Aquac ev400 protein skimmer
Iwaki japan 20/55/100 pumps
Tek t5 six bulb fixture
Ro/Di
BRS pukani rock(200lb)

I need help finding a tank. I want to setup a +300g fowlr and a 150-120g reef. I have dedicated 10'x7'fish room and the fowlr will share the wall.(in-wall setup)

How sells large tanks at a reasonable price?

Thanks,
Efrain

Welcome! I got my tank from Chance of Coral which are sponsors here. I'd hit up the LFS sponsors on here to get some quotes.

Bigger always better. I'd turn the bigger tank into the reef and the smaller one fowlr. Welcome to the money draining hobby we all love

Saw that tank also... Amazing set up!!! Thing is in mint condition!!! And I believe it comes with an 8bulb T5 retro.
I think it's a leemar tank and stand.

Welcome....

We have a 305 gallon leemar star fire used sitting in the shop for sale. Cruise by and check it out. 84"x30"x28" There's a stand, canopy, older style tunze's and some odd's and ends that can go with it. I'll PM you a phone number.

Thanks everyone for the kind words and motivation. I been pm and emailing for quotes. It's hard to decide on tank dimensions. I currently own two tanks one 48x24x24 with dual overflows. I don't like that the overflow take too much space. Also have a 84x24x24 with dual overflow. I don't like the depth. There plain glass and I would like starfire glass. I bought this tanks 5 years ago and never had water in them. They don't convince me so it's hard to set them up. I got them as a bundle but I regret getting them. (Impulse buy) I put them in my garage and time passed. I might sell them to fund the new tanks.

I will build my stand from metal and covered with wood. The larger tank will be In-wall.

like Chris said, " bigger is always better" give you more of a le way for things to go wrong, but at the same time. the bigger you go the bigger stuff your going to need. Which all means a lot more $$$$$. I personally went with a 84x30x24 with a external overflow box.

Good luck

The plan is to build a smaller reef tank to test the water. If we don't like the cost of maintenance or my husbandry skill are not up to par. We can tear down the tank and sell it. The larger tank will be permanently setup, it will be in a wall. Fish only, don't need expensive light fixtures and no dosing needed. We can pay to have it serviced by a reputable LFS. That worst case scenario.

My wife and I have conversations about what we want. We need to be on the same page. I like reef tanks and she likes large non-reef safe fish. We visit the aquarium and we both enjoy watching the fish swim around. We agreed in wall setup was for us. Watching reef tanks was a different story, we didn't like not being able to see from the side. We agreed, setting up the tank in the open space was best for us.

It's all about $$$ and what we are willing to commit. We will try our best and I'm a DIY type of guy. Saving $$ is our goal but willing to spend $$ on the hobby. I have been amazed by the support of SCR members.
