Two things I know about, 1. could have gotten stung by another coral, did you have this acan near another large LPS? 2. some corals that are on the sand bed can pick up a coral eating bug.

1.Put acan near a flow of cosistant water flow, so that any dead coral flesh can be washed away, instead of contaminating the rest of the acan.

2. put acan above sand bed, like on top of a small rock.

Hope this helps! Good Luck!

Sometimes coral just die, no explanation. But I also suggest you put the Acans on a shelf rock and near water flow Like Jessoto33 stated. Sometimes ALK drop can wipeout an entire colony. Ph drops, temp drops, and thing that swings drastically can kill coral.

put them in quaratin tank or ask friend to nurse.
There's reason but no way to find out. there are thousands of reasons they die.

check your ph and alk at night. make sure you dont have too big of swings. Ive seen that happen many times in peoples aquariums when they have large ph swings during the evenings, lps like acans are usually first to show signs
