I Just purchased a new Torch coral, its a tiny little single head and was doing fine yesterday. It has only been in tank 2 days now but seemed fine tentacles were extending but today i found it all retracted and it has me worried! its currently sitting on the sandbed, wondering if I should move it?

I turned on the actinics in case the light was too strong and making it do that...

Here are my parameters:
ammonia:0
Nitrite:0
Phosphate:0
Calcium:410
Alkalinity: 8dkH
Salinity: 1.026 d SG
PH: 8.0

My lights are a bit old not sure how to measure their strength, would the torch do that if their too weak? or only if too strong??
Like I said its only been a couple days but it was looking longer when i first put it in, this is only my second coral and I am a Huge Newcomer just dont want to lose it. Heres how it looked before;

Do you have a pic of it now?

My torch retracts in at least once a day. Sometimes just poopin and other times, who knows. I think it's fairly common for them to do that when new and beyond. If you notice flesh recessing then you have issues. But just deflated isn't a red alarm for me. A current pic will help.

I agree with Omar very common especially when introducing new coral to your tank. give it a few days if the problem continues then try moving it to a different spot. I usually keep mine in the middle where it gets strong flow and medium light

mine loves the flow :peace:

That first pic looks totally normal to me. Mine usually do that for a while when my lights turn off. I think you're good. Maybe just a little stressed but it'll get used to the tank methinks.

It's less likely the rock and more likely your water. The green is just algae, nothing to worry about IMO. But maybe your water quality could get better and that will make the coral happier.

Ok, well I checked my water and it seems my calcium was a bit low so I have begun dosing and will continue testing and monitoring.. hopefully it will get happier (fingers crossed, still new at this.. :fie: )

I have been changing 4g of water in the 28biocube every week and been dosing about an ounce every other day of calcium and magnesium and he seems to be doing much better.
