Are 2 Tunze 6095 and a Vortech mp40 enough for a SPS dominant reef in a tank this size?

After battle with hair algae a dead skunk cleaner, 2 dead snails and and 3 dead green chromis, this is all I have to show for it.
Still happy with baby though! ha ha

Wondering if I should just stop now before killing anything more and burning any more cash.

But still would like input on the pump question! lol.

Does anybody know what this is floating off my fromia starfish?
It's been in my tank a < 1 week and appears to be moving around my tank.
I hope its not melting!
