Will do! I just did the water change, I'll test and post up what I get soon
I'm surprised you have anything still alive with a 16 alk. Like holy cow... Take a water bottle n put in down a few inches below the water line n fill that bad boy up. Hop in ur car and have your local store test you water. Any legit shop will test your water params for you for free until you can get all the essentials you need.

After the WC, I'm getting
Temp 79
Salinity 1.026/35
Ammonia 0
Nitrites 0
Nitrates >0-5
Ph 7.8
Calcium 440
Alk 11

Is that closer to where I wanna be?

That's closer. But you might get a shock on the system dropping that alk so quick. Your still missing a magic number which would be magnesium.. You really need to make it a priority to find that number. Cause the other two are pretty worthless without it. Calcium is still high. So you defenetly have a magnesium issue.

Jae,
What Jim quotes is what i'm concerned as well on the alk . continue to keep an eye on the corals and don't go any lower for the time being. Definitely check your mag level asap.

Are the Salifert mag tests ok? Can LFS test for that?
Salifert mag test is good and LFS should be able to as long as they have all the test supplies. They're pretty affordable about 15-18 bucks a box. I'm sure most of us would recommend to get some good quality test kits for yourself and check it normally. best of luck with getting things straighten out.

Update: I brought in a sample to test (shoutout to SPS Coral Store in La Caada) and my water's not testing for any magnesium, they ran it twice just to make sure. Uh oh... that can't be good.

440 is absolutely fine for you cal, its not high at all! That being said without being able to read any mag is an issue. All three work together so when that's off the other numbers right now are worthless. You need to get the mag squared away then you will get accurate readings on your cal and alk

I just dosed my tank with magnesium, and my test kit should be here some time this weekend, hopefully that'll sort everything out

Anyone have an idea how I could have imbalanced it this much? My tank's mostly LPS and Zoas with one SPS frag that's about an inch tall, and I keep up with weekly 10% WCs
