<hr style="color:#FFFFFF; background-color:#FFFFFF" size="1"> I've decided I don't want to keep anymore sticks other than what I have right now so a spot on the top rock(separate from the one the other SPS is on) I had my setosa on is available but it gets direct light from the MH. So I'm looking for a couple types of zoas that like a lot of light. Any suggestions?

I have a nice RBTA and clams on the bottom, so changing out the light is not an option...

Thanks, Dave

Hey Dave its me again haha

Well from the articles I've read, zoas that form tight clusters and stalks that are rather close to the mat usually originate from reefs around 25' or less so relative strong current and light.

Others, for instance with longer stalks or polyps that grow further apart or more sporadic, tend to originate in deeper waters.

Now this becomes problematic as those polyps that are starving for light tend to grow longer stalks so this isn't always the case.

I think in general you can put them anywhere, although some color up better in some shade.

Dave,

I would recommend maybe some Cultured African Blue Hornets. They look nice they love flow and even more light.

I have a small colony if you are interested. Kick it to you on the cheap.

Bean is right as well. I have found that you can pretty much put them anywhere, some like less light and some like more light. If you observe them for maybe a couple weeks, they will tell you that something is wrong, by either closing up completely, or not coloring up to there proper coloration.

Thanks, flow would be pretty strong in this spot also as my mp10s do kick it up a notch...

Mike, thanks for the offer, while the ABH are very sweet, I already have AOIs which imho, are very similar.

This is how I usually can tell my bulbs need to be changed, when my AOGs get "stretchy", time to change the bulb...

What lights are your running?

I am running 2x 150w MH's with 2 96w atinics 420/460nm and I my zoa are on a steady growth rate, Not sure if its fast or not.

Example.
bought 1 polyp of cand apple orange from Ramzy at the end of March and now it has 2 full grown polyps with 3-4 baby's.

I noticed alot more growth when I took off my filter sock a month ago.

Standard 75g glass. My rack is about 1/3 high from the bottom. Not sure how tall my tank is. Have to measure when I get home.

Is this a fast or slow growth rate? I have no Idea/comarrison.

My Sunny D's that I got the same day started out with 3 polyps and now with 6-8.

Ramzy's Sunny D's are very fast growers. For example, I got a single polyp at RAP 2009 from him and since have grown out over 100-150 polyps.

The CAOs I don't know about but that sounds like a moderate growth, imo.

Great news to hear! Those Candy Apple Orange are one of my favorites! Once you've got yourself a good amount of polyps their growth multiplies much faster.

word. Great quality too... like I said before Ramzy's zoa's ar FAT. Alot of people sell little baby polyps but the ones I got from him are always full grown and ready to multiply lol!

Yes, I sat on one polyp of Sunny D's for probably 2 months and they just took off as soon as another one sprouted. Also, good flow, just enough to make them sway but not too much to make them close up...

his Zoa's lol.

I have 2 MP10's running 100% on wave mode and a Koralia 1050 running 5hrs a day just to change it up. Thinking of putting my extra koralia 1050 in also on 30min intervals. I like crazy flow. I am more concerned of the anemone's moving if I put my 4th pump in the tank lol.

I dedicated a side of my tank for cultivating my zoa's lol

every long term captive raised polyp that i've had have always done good under extreme high light... the ones you have to watch out for are microzoanthids, and new zoas...
