So I did a water change nov 1st, I tested the next day and here's what I got that makes no sence 2 me.
Phos: .22
Nitrate: 4.5

November 16th
Phos: .10
Nitrate: 2.2

everything else makes sence so how over a 2 week period are these getting better? Shouldn't they start low and slowly get higher? I have an idea just wanted 2 get some input. Thanks y'all!

you are suppose to test at the same time of the day every time. and the cheato is helping increase lighting time of the cheato to 24hours a day wee what happens after a week

So what would you say is the recommended time 2 test the water? My main lights turn in from 5-10 and then I have an led in the sump all the rest of the time.

what i am saying if you test your water at 2am in the morning you should test your water at 2am in the morning everytime you test your water. regarding light on your cheato. leave it on for 24hours. the faster it grows the more p04 and nitrate it absorb

Test your water change mix next time to rule that out. Of course if you are adding po4 there's the problem. Past that anything new in the tank that might be leaching po4. Rocks sand pumps.
Also make you just stirred somethings up while water changing. Maybe re test today.

I completely agree with lowbudget. Test at the same time of day every time. I test at night only and I test from the water in my display not in my sump.
I also run my refugium light 24/7

It could be a number of different things. Anything die prior to the first water change? Do you feed less now? It could be that you have an increase in bacteria. How big of a water change? Have you changed foods? What are you testing your parameters with?

im not say he is.

all the way on top i ask him if he was running cheato? he was i explain to him that his cheato was probably lowering his p04 and nitrate cause its growing good. the cheato is exporting more p04 and nitrate then his tank can produce. thats why his param are better.

I also agree with that.

Like I said it could also be a bacterial change, he could be feeding less or a different food, something could have died prior to the first test, etc etc. just throwing other ideas out there as to the reason.

So nothing has died, feedings have stayed the same. i change 45 gallons every 2 weeks. foods are also the same. I use hannah checkers for all and phos api for nitrate and ph and for iodide mag i use Sailfert. I also test around the same 3 or 4 hour period between 5-9 before any food has been fed usually about an hour or so after lights turn on.
