Can someone tell me how to get rid of this? I tested my waters nitrate/nitrite are 0, I dont know my phosphate parimeters because I dont have one to test for. I do use RO/DI water but found realized that it needs to be changed since the TDS levels were testing 20. So i ended up purchasing RO/DI water from the LFS, but when i got home its testing around 5-7 TDS. Now I have these brown looking algae, but the pictures look green.

The issue is clean water for changes and phosphates. Invest in a testing kit and you will find the phosphates are high. It would also be a good idea to test magnesium. Some reefers have recommended keeping a higher than recommended level to help with algae. I haven't had the need. I keep mine at 1300 ppm. A good clean up crew can also help but get the water right first.

Yes that's GHA. Get your parameters in check , and add a good clean up crew, with sea hare, trochus and turbo snails they will take care of it till you get the water and parameters in check

I bought a seahare 2 weeks ago and it died the next day. Do you think using chemipure elite and Purigen would work? I know when I had a nano tank those were quite helpful. The tank I have now is a 60gal

I've used chemi pure and purigen for the past 6 months, honestly, didn't really do much but keep the water clear.

I've read sea hares are hard to keep alive. I'm battling that problem myself. I'm going to get some more snails and maybe trade my pencil urchins in for a tuxedo urchin.

I went from a 12 gallon nano with a HOB filter (temp situation) to a 30G cube with a sump and a strong protein skimmer, tons of live rock and I'm 3 months in and boom, algae bloom. Of all kind, not just diatoms but green, red, slime, bubble. You name it. I need some solution too. Really looking into some chemical way to make this go away.

I used algae fix marine. It actually worked really well. I saw results within. 1-2 days all the green algae started breaking down slowly and saw a lot of it in my filter sock. I turned off my skimmer for 3 days but recently turned it back on. Not sure if I should leave it on, but I felt something was missing in my tank.

I would suggest several larger WCs after using algaefix. I used it recently on a nano and it did get rid of the algae, but the overall health of the tank declined rapidly after the algae went away. I should have followed it up with a few healthy sized water changes. All that poison (algaefix) and melted algae is still in your tank, it didn't just disappear.

When you said you saw your tank decline, what kind of issues did you have? I don have too much stuff in my tank. Just a few shrooms and polyps

Tank had LPS, zoas and mushrooms. The LPS lost color and began to shrink, both the zoas and shrooms following close behind the LPS.
