How do you dose?

I run tropic marin pro reef in my tank and I have a hard time keeping calcium up. But when I dose calc from 380 up to 420 it drops my Kh from 9 down to 7.5 so thats my question..

When you dose your tanks, do you do a little bit of calcium at a time then 30 min - 1 hour later do a little Kh then wait and do a little more calc to avoid an alk swing like that? Curious what others preferred dosing method..

What's your mag levels? Cal and Alk play a balancing game and Magnesium allows them to bind. Low mag levels can cause alk to precipitate. Also how big is your dose of cal? dosing is better spread out in smaller increments.

My Mag is at 1420. I dose a teaspoon of the seachem's calcium powder with a cup of R/o over a few hours. that usually brings my tank up 40 ppm
