A quick write up about how I got two juvi phantom clowns into a rainbow bubbletip during their first introduction to the tank. Ymmv
I saw a vid somewhere about using an acrylic tube to have clowns swim down and go into the anem but I don't have a giant acrylic tube so I improvised.
After matching the water salinity in the qt and the dt I took a clean clear drinking cup(I used a plastic clear "glass") and filled it w dt water. I then placed one clown into this glass and lowered the glass into dt with my hand covering the top of it. I quickly flipped the glass inside the tank so the open end was now on the bottom. The fish was still inside the glass swimming in middle of it.
I moved the glass right over the anem and held it there for quite a bit. Since it was see-through, I don't think the clown realized to swim down and out of the glass. It took about 6 mins; the fish finally touched the anem tenticles and after some hesitation, jumped in.
I have a 32 inch wide tank and the anem is in the back so holding the glass was not very comfortable but well worth the effort when the clown took to the anem.
I repeated the process for the 2nd clown which went faster because it saw the first clown and swam down into the anemone after about a minute .
I really feel clowns don't jump in because they don't know they should be doing it but once they are actually touching the anem, nature takes over .
