how long till tank is free of bacterial infection?

i recently lost a fish due to a severe wound and at this point i'm assuming she had some kind of bacterial infection too. how long till the tank is clear of it assuming there's no other fish in the tank? is it like ich where it takes at least 4 weeks? thanks guys

Adding a UV sterilizer will help kill bacteria, a few water change will reduce it, I personally am using UV it simultaneously run with the main light so not to kill the good bacteria.

how much are uv sterilizers? i don't have much money. i'll keep doing water changes once a week though.
