In almost 10 years.... Not surprised if its over $50K.. plus electricity, gas from the store visits/frag swaps/events and all the hours I could have been productively working overtime to more money... so we'll put that far past $100K easily.... **crying emoji**...

I actually have an app to track my expenses. I have been in the hobby a mere 3 weeks and have spent 1,150 dollars... 750 went towards the fluval m-90 but at least it wasn't retail price :)

Just for the reef side and not including my planted tanks, I just hit the $1,500 mark.

I am okay with it. This is much safer than dirt bike riding and still less expensive than being a musician or having a stellar drug habit.

Since i gave up alcohol 2 years ago, I am still spending less than what I did on booze, and if I give up smoking in November, it will be less again still.

It's not about how much you spend but rather the friends and memories you made through this awesome hobby. Jvt, lost lid on cooler, $5 birdnest, hanging out with sgv crew during shows, helping the old ladies...I can go on and on..

Oh and beating everyone at street fighter!!!! @gumbi

when I was blindly in love with reefing, she was a beautiful dream girl on a pedestal:

couldn't keep my mind on nothin' else,
would've changed my world for 1 good coral
if my tank was bad, i couldn't see it,
she could do no wrong,
turned my back on my best friend if they put her down
would've spent my very last dime
tryin' to hold on to what the tank needed

but then I got bored.

someone please breed pygmy great white sharks for my tank, or hybrid a sponge to a gem tang! then Ill be all in love again.
