Does anybody feed their Peppermint shrimps often, as in once a day? If so what would you recommend feeding them?

I watched my pepp shrimp yank two of my Stoma snails off the rock, and eat them. I spot fed it 3 helpings of cyclops just the day before. Are these little guys THAT tenacious when it comes to eating?

I want to keep it fed, so it doesn't decimate my Stoma population. Will frequent feedings work, or is this a lost cause?

Coo, thanks James. Good advice on the lights off, that's when my shrimp is active. Not to mention the fish are tucked in their rock hole for the night.

So far I've only seen him hunt at night, he still hides most of the day. Only been in the tank a week or so.
Peppermint shrimp are cryptic for the most part. I would nt specifically feed it. Feed the fish don't pollute your tank with overfeeding IMO you'll just get algae down the road.

I have never fed my peppermint shrimp. Just lives off scraps. That sucker is big now too. I have had him over a year and a half.

Any of your guys' shrimps eat anything you didn't want it to, i.e. snails or pods? Or is that just part of the game?

They are op. feeders. What ever they can get their shrimp hands on they will eat. I have had them decimate my nas. snail population. I only have one left and ironically he never goes on the sand bed he sticks to the walls now lol.

They are simply scavengers... some have said they will eat corals if they were hungry enough but I've never had that problem myself. I wouldn't worry, you've got more pods and snails I'm sure.

I have had success with them eating aiptaisia.

Just let it be in my advice.

I've got 2 that just sit around in the back that do NOTHING!! Haven't touched my aiptasias, worthless POS. I wanted to try berghias but was afraid my Melanurus would be a big issue, but found out, No, he would probably be fine, it's the darn peppermints that would probably be the issue because they are both night hunters. Go figure!

Lol^^^ not the first time I've read about livestock disappearing. Probably an unknown predator in the tank, but I like the idea of a black hole that sucks in unsuspecting critters!

My pep hasn't touched what I'm pretty sure is aiptasia. Then again it's only been a week.
