Hey all, I have two hydor koralia 850's and was thinking of pairing them with a smart wave to get better flow near my sand. What are your thoughts on improving my flow in the lower part of my tank and opinions on the hydor smart wave. Tank measures 5ft x 18in x 2 ft

Thanks in advance!
Ty

I have two jebao wp60s aiming straight at the rock work with a Hydor controller. I have it alternating my pumps on and off every minute. I did it to maximize flow from both ends of the tank and technically electricity consumption of one wavemaker if you really think about it considering they alternate. I love it, and the wp60s work so well I have to have them at 30 percent and in the back of the tank I still have bald areas with the sand because they are very good at picking up debris and putting it back in suspension and even moving the sand around lol

Thank you for the info mmarro22 I hope I can clear a couple dead spots by installing a controller. How do you like the hydor controller?

Np, I like it. Bought it used about a year ago for like 20 bucks used and does what it's supposed to do. Only thing I don't like is the feed mode. I don't know if they have changed it on newer models but the one I have is a knob you manually turn vs other controllers on wave makers or return dc pumps where when you press feed mode after say 10mns they go back to normal function. This one when you are done if you forget to turn it back on it just stays in feed mode.if it's your only source of high water circulation you can get yourself in some trouble. Maybe newer models or different brands aren't like that I don't know. Might want to look into that.

I have about 1500 gpm from my return pump so I don't think it would kill everything if I forgot to turn it back on. I also do not turn off my wave pumps while feeding so it may not be as big of a issue for me. I just can't beat the price right now

Yep, the price tag on a used one is what got me lol. . I don't normally turn off my pumps to feed. Only times I've had to was when i set up the trap to catch fish out and I didn't want the food blown out. With the excitement of catching the fish putting stuff away /cleaning up I have forgotten like twice to turn them back on lol. But yeah only thing you might want to look into its I've read there are certain model pumps that will cause a clicking sound every time they turn back on. I've never experienced that with the jebaos but I believe it's with certain hydors that it can be an annoying sound issue.

Oh yeah that would definitely become a problem. My wife would kill me if guests started asking "what's that clicking noise" lol

Lol, yeah look into it, I forgot which Hydor models I read causes the clicking. I think it was the smaller ones though not 100 percent sure. Just realized it didn't pertain to me and brain went into bypass mode lol
