If I'm doing a hydrogen peroxide dip for bryopsis, does it turn white after soaking it for awhile? i put a ~5 lb rock with tons of it in about a 50/50 peroxide/salt water for about 15 minutes.

Worms died off and so did other crawlers, but the algae stayed green mostly and was still hard to remove.

Does it kill it pretty immediately or do I need to soak longer? If I leave out this rock to dry in the sun will it kill off the bryopsis? What happens when I put it back into my tank?

i had one forum member suggest that i use hydrogen peroxide. i guess i'll see if it really did work?

would i get a mini cycle out of this rock if i had about 25 lbs of other rock in there? would i have to add prime every 2 days for awhile until it looks like the rock has been converted into live rock?

what corals are you dipping? or is it just rock
it's only the rock for now. i pulled off all the zoa frags i had glued on it. there is some bryopsis on the zoa frags so i might dip those for 30 seconds each. thoughts?

Delet. Not sure if pouring peroxide directly on the rock works for Bryoposis, but it works for hair algae.
ok, i have the rock in old dirty tank water (that prob has a lot of phosphates in it) right now with no heater. i checked it this morning and it's all still there looking normal. i'll wait a couple days i suppose.

if i remove all the algae prior to putting it back into the tank, would it start a mini cycle when i put the rock back in? should i add prime when i put the rock back in?

purchase some Tech M made by Kent Marine.
I use a 10 ml or 5 ml syringe and squirt the bryopsis with the tech M 2 to 3 times a week. monitor your Mag levels to ensure you do not raise your mag to much but unlikely. im just cautious . do that for a few weeks or until algae is dead and gone

no worries, thanks for the info. the rock that is out of the tank in old tank water is ~5 lbs, but covered in that algae. i gave up with it.

yea i still have a decent amount of bryopsis in the tank and all around, but def not as bad what was on this rock... i have tech m and will add it to the bucket with the rock. i think i may eventually start adding it directly to my display tank for the remainder of the stuff around. i was just hoping to find another way of doing it before i went the tech m route.

Just add kent tech m mag to your sump daily. Let it raise your mag to 1600 or 1800, slowly of course. It was years ago I did it, and it works.
