I got a 6 month old JBJ Nano AIO tank.

Has a few coral frags, 2 clowns and a baby yellow tang.

When the tang gets a little bigger, I have to re-home it due to tangs not supposed to be in small tanks.

I was at Petsmart this past weekend getting food for my Savannah cats. I happened to walk by the fish aisle and I saw a really nice 100 gallon tank.

Theoretically speaking here.....what if I were to buy that 100gallon tank and stock it with fresh Catalina water and ~20 gallons of my current tank water and ~15lbs of the live rock I got my tank (and all the live sand).....and then add the rest live rock, live sand and water.

Would the tank experience a cycle "as such"? Would the tank be safe for the two clowns and yellow tang to live in?

I just realized I got bit by the reef tank addiction pretty **** hard.....and 24gallons isn't doing it for me. I need bigger.

thanks if can can offer any suggestions on how to make going from a 24ga to a 100ga feasible.

Or do I just set up the 100ga tank as I would normally....and wait ~3 months for it to properly cycle until I put the corals/fish in from my 24ga tank?

If you're going to go bigger think it through. Don't just buy a cheap tank. Figure out what's going to make you happy long term. You'll be much happier and save more money in the long run that way.

Now for your question. IMO you'd get a cycle. But there are things you can do to minimize/prevent it. You could also use bacteria in a bottle that'll help the good bacteria quickly and safely for fish.

Yeah you're right....I'm in the planning stages of this right now. Just was curious if it was possible to transfer over my 24ga to the 100ga without a cycle....but it's not looking like it.

I've done it numerous times. Use all the same rocks and u should be ok. When u start adding a lot of new rocks and all new sand. That's when u will start to have problems. Def add a bottle of bacteria either way. And look into a tank that has a built in overflow. U will want to add a sump and what not, might as well do it right the first time

Sweet cat by the way. Where did u get it, and how much was it?

Thanks, I paid $10k for it and got him from a breeder in San Diego. He's more dog than cat.....he understands English (to a point) and when I ask him a question, you can tell that there's someone inside his head due to the tone of voice he meows back in.

He understands "go to bed", he taught himself how to open cupboards and doors (imagine banging your chick and the cat opens the door and just sits there and watches you....now imagine having to explain that to the girl).

The other day I had a maintenance worker over at my place fixing my ceiling fan. The guy spoke in a very thick Russian accent. Soon as he walked in, my cat gave him a dirty look and took a swipe at him. The next words out of the guys mouth were:

"That is not cat??!! What animal is that??"

That's awesome dude. Can't see myself spending $10k on any animal, But that is a very VERY cool animal to have.

If u can, post a couple more pics.

WOW! He was right...that's not a cat. That thing it like a cheeta/ mountain lion.

If your looking for bacteria in a bottle....I'd suggest Dr. Tim's One and Only. I've used it in my past 2 tanks and didn't have any "cycle" at all. Although I did wait a couple days to put fish in...there was no ammonia or nitrate spike.

Thanks....his name is "Cheeto".

Backstory on how I named him? Ok. So about a week after I picked him up as a kitten from the breeder, I was dating this blonde/blue chick with fake tits.

She spent the night one night....and we both woke up on my couch the next morning and she stood up topless and here's the image that has stayed in my head:

A hot blond chick with fake tits holding the kitten up and looking at me and saying:

"I'm going to name him Cheeto, because he looks like a Cheetah".

So give me a few, will find more pics of him and post to this thread. I just thought that was a funny story to tell.

The reason I say this story....is that you could totally tell her tits were fake. It was SO obvious....I think that's the reason that image and this story has stuck in my head for so long.

//edit: I should mention that she wasn't very smart....and that's what killed it for me. I can't date morons.

Ok, so here's some pictures. The first one is his dad. He's the size of a German Shepard.

The rest are him and his cousin. I got my cat as a "helper cat" for me....and he kept giving me the sad puppy dog face whenever I would leave for a few hours and then come home. So I got my "helper cat" a "helper cat" for himself. I bought his cousin from the breeder. His cousin is less pure bred.

So that wasn't a good idea because now both cats team up on me.

The rest are Cheeto and his cousin. Both cats live with me....and to be honest, it's a bit much because they are extremely wild, but loving, animals.

Also...if any of you guys are local to Huntington Beach (I'm moving there soon) and can play golf in the day time (local courses) hit me up.

My golf buddy had surgery on his arm and he's out of commission for at least a year due to rehab/etc.

I got nobody to play golf with and hate going by myself. I like to play on the weekdays during the late morning early afternoon.

I'm not that good, only been playing for about a year. So I usually play for fun.

Yeah....if you go to Kia Dealership in ....Carson? I think she used to work the front desk there. Or maybe it was Honda?

One of those dealerships.

She was a total piece of ***....but it just didn't work.

What's a "helper" cat? Also the pic of the first cat looks huge, the other pics look like normal cats. I know pics can be deceiving .

Hot Dogs are GOOD!
Basically it was an attempt at getting a $10k "designer cat" and writing it off on my income taxes. My brother is an attorney and he did that with his dog....he saw a shrink, the shrink labeled him "crazy", the shrink gave him a piece of paper saying so and my brother can now take his dog anywhere dogs are banned (apartments etc).

My jackoff CPA wouldn't allow it. So I called him a "helper cat" because he kept me company.

My accountant DID allow me to write off a few porn sites though....because I own an internet business, I had them for "research" purposes. I was trying to start a porn site but it never took off.

Oh well.
