So, as many of you know... I had a good amount of nice pieces including 5 LE chalices and a couple other nice pieces. I did a huge water change this weekend... Something was messed up and it completely Nuked my tank. Pretty much all my LE pieces are dead, All my Acans are dead. Even my Frogspawn and Hammer corals are dead. My SPS bleached, and my Rainbow monti is on it's way out. I am unbelievably sad and I am not even sure where to begin again! I will post a picture at some point in the near future.

Sorry to hear. I've lost coral before and even completely bleached skeletons made a comeback every once and awhile. Hang in there.

Dayum bro... So sorry to hear that yo.
Hope you didnt try one of your full tank water changes again right? please give us more details: what type of salt, did you heat the water to the temp of the tank, did you check your salt mix before you added it to the tank so that the levels matched, etc..

Thanks bro. your info could save future tanks.

that sucks, i had some coral just up and die before too but not a total nuke like that. i also hate watching as algae choke out your coral slowly and no matter what you do the algea wont stop growing and covering it to death.

I didn't do a complete water change, but I did a big one my tank is 75g and i changed about 40g of it. I did heat the water, the salinity was off by about .03 as my tanks actual salinity was .025 and the new water was .022. I figured I would just use drip acclimation so I dripped water in to a rubbermaid bin for about 2 hours hoping that they would get acclimated correctly. One thing I didn't account for was the PH, my PH took a sudden drop as I took out a bunch of rock and put a little over half of the actual live rock back in. Unfortunately, I think this is what did everything in. I am still in the phase of testing and checking my params every day. and making adjustments accordingly. I am going to put more PhosGuard in my tank. I originally did the water change because my nitrates were 20 /ppm. I wanted to lower them obviously. What I probably should have done is done two or three smaller water changes. Say maybe, Do an initial 20g water change, then 6 hours later do another 10g and then another 6 hours later do another 10g. Instead I did all 40g right away.

Here are a couple of before and after pictures so you guys can visually see what I lost...

As for the water params and treatments...

I am now using PH buffer to correct the PH back to 8.2-8.4. I am also dosing mag, B-Ionic Calcium 1 & 2. The salt mix I used was RO/DI with Oceanic Salt Mix.

Zigginit - Ya, it really sucks bad. I probably had $3,000 worth of corals. I have about 3 zoa colonies and a christmas favia and a couple leathers that are still alive. Also, a Miami Hurricane colony and a struggling 3 eye Tyree LE Fire and Ice chalice.

G-Unit - I know dude, it really sucks A$$. I lost so much, I would probably fill up the cemetery by myself! My display is literally rittled with bleached skeletons.

WOW! thats devastating!!!
Jesse - Ya it really sucks. I might hit you up for some replacement acans as soon as I get my S*%# straightened out!

Deet - Full tank - no I did take all the water out of the tank as I wanted to take the sand out. However, I put about 30 gallons of the old water back in. But apparently 40g was enough to wreck havoc in my tank. Clearly.

Sorry to hear. I've lost coral before and even completely bleached skeletons made a comeback every once and awhile. Hang in there.
Happaman - What many people don't know, or just don't realize is on a real reef, death is a part of the reef cycle. Some corals (mostly SPS and LPS) are a ticking time bomb of sorts and these corals have an internal clock that, if and when it goes off they just up and die. It is a process, which allows the reef to grow and mature as those corals and large colonies die off new corals grow above and so on and so forth and that is how the reef grows. Unfortunately, I helped to cause this mass die-off, and now I am paying the ultimate price.

That sucks. How big of a water change did u do??
Dime - Overall, I changed about 40g of actual mixed water. Oceanic Salt Mix and RO/DI

I know, I know... It is all my fault, but if any of you guys want to save me from getting my *** chewed out by my wife and donate some frags to help me get my display back to at least looking decent I would greatly appreciate it. In turn I can, set up a date and come over a photograph your tank for you? Just as Deet said before, if you donate and your tank ever goes nuclear, I will give you a frag back to help you out.

Thanks again for all the comments! On a better note... I look forward to CFM!

Wow!
Whoa!
Ooh!
Ouch!
I have some little buds of Toadstool popping up. They're the pinkish yellow ones. About a 1/2 inch tall now. If you want to wait a while you can have one.
