Kent marine c and minced garlic from the 99 cent store, soaked all my food in it.....worked like a charm, build your fishes immunity up by feeding good and im gonna stand by that. Im sure its still existing in my system but no signs at all for awhile now. I first got ich when I acquired a blue hippo tang, but everyone in my system is doing great now.

It's still in my system too, I know UV helps as well, so I just picked up a coralife turbo-twist.

Ick is like a cold. The fish will get over it. Dont try putting too much in your tank, like copper which may hurt the chances of keeping corals in your tank healthy if you ever decide on getting any. Try water changes and then look for more permanent solutions to keeping good water quality. This will reduce stress on fish and strengthen their immune system. They will never get ick again.

Water quality and adequate environment for your fish is key in my opinion. I have had ich in my tank since the beginning and the only time it pops up is when im feeding more than my filtration can handle or if im slacking on maintenance, or if my heater is not working right or if I add a fish.

i had ich problems a few weeks ago and killed 3 fish (two clowns and a kole tang). I was planning on transferring all the fish to another tank for hypo but after reading the process I just felt it would stress my fish a lot more so did not continue.

I kept everything the same pretty much but since I had lesser bioload with the 3 fish gone, my yellow tang which had the most problem got better. Leopard wrasse, 4 chromis and damsel also eating like pigs again.

When running copper are u only using it until u stop seeing ich? If so that's why it isn't working. Copper only kills ich in its free swimming stage. Cupramine ran for at least 4 weeks or 2 weeks after last signs of ich is seen (whichever is longer) has worked best for me.

This is how u protect your self from ich

I've had ich in my DT sense day 1.
Do I care no?
Why! Cause I keep me temp stable. A degree or in temp fluctuations still stresses the fish out enough to let the ich effect them. Every now and then I'll see a spot or 2 on the purple or blue tang. I'll check me temp records and see a spike. But spots go away in a day.

I think a heater problem may have been a big contributor to me losing 90% of my fish to ich, I lost a large Emporer, Naso tang, 2 yellow tangs, blue jaw trigger, lavender tang and a sailfin tang. Giving my remaining fish away and going back to freshwater.... sucks

I agree with the mac. Everytime I see ich its almost always been temp related. I had a period where my heater wasn't turning. Got a new one and its better.

Lower your salinity to as low as 1.009 if you like, but around 1.015, and treat with cupramine. The only bad thing with cupramine or any copper for that matter, I've noticed will kill zebrasoma tangs (yellow, purple, etc.). I haven't had a problem with pygmy angels and copper. Must treat for at least a month and levels need to be therapeutic or it won't work.
