I am setting up my tank and need to figure out which is best?

Laguna Power Jet 2000
Watts 100
GPH 2000
Cost 150.00 plus shipping

or

Sicce Synrcra 3.0
Watts 100
GPH 1325 (I believe)
Cost 210.00

please consider:

Heat
Energy efficiency
Longevity
Cost
CSR
Serviceability
Noise factor and what every you believe is important.

Thanks

ATB flowstar 1500 and Laguna 2000, are basically all the same pumps. (Laguna 2000 has a little more flow) The Fluval sea is an Askoll motor, but has different volute and the pump is supposed to not make as much heat as the Laguna.

The Laguna does not come with a stand, but it comes with attachments to connect flex tubing. If u plan on hard plumbing your return, it's a little tough with the Laguna.
$120

The ATB flowstar 1500 is just a Laguna pump with a stand and a threaded union attached.
$270. (Rip off IMO. They charge you $150 for a stand and a union)

The Fluval sea is little bigger and has a threaded input and output.
$200

I would recommend the Fluval Sea over the Laguna/ATB or the Sicce pump. I have owned a Laguna and I'm currently using the Fluval sp6. It's a beast of a pump and makes zero noise. IMO it's the best submersible pump out right now.

If the Fluval is out of your price range, I'd go with the Laguna. But honestly Any of the pumps I listed are bad as$ pumps.

Hagen pump gets my vote as said above comes with stand and threaded connections and was designed to run in sump or inline. Laguna Max Flows are killer pumps Hagen just added needed parts for different installs. Also they are the only pump mentioned in this thread that advertise their pumps to work both sump and inline and there is a reason why other pumps don't put that in writing with their pumps:)

I was just sitting in my man cave (garage) and people walking by must have been tripping. I was laughing out loud when I was reading thru the following thread:

http://www.socalireefs.com/forums/showthread.php?36937-Best-return-pump

Just as a note for the above link I think that the controversy of fast and slow flow wasn't satisfied if better or worse (scientifically speaking) :p

BTW thank you guys for the experience and opinions. And, yes James this is what you have been preaching to me about. I was simply thrown for a curve. I was visiting PYA (Philyourtank's store) yesterday (by the way awesome guy and knowledgeable) when I saw the Sicce ret pumps and we talked about Customer Service. The reason I state this is because I've been looking for a local store to purchase the Laguna PJ and aside from what James said (Upland, Ca) there are no other stores that I've seen that sell this unit. Ebay/Amazon dictate that they are all coming from Maryland or other east cost locations. I was simply looking for a same day switch of unit for peace of mind...You know!

but other than that thanks again all

I ordered my Laguna from eBay. Way cheaper and better warranty. (There's one Ebay seller that offers a 4 year warranty). I wouldn't buy locally, I've seen online prices be almost half price vs local shops. If you absolutely must purchase locally, there is a big pond fish store in the IE (I think it's upland or Montclair), and they sell Laguna pumps and parts.

Orale good looking out.

I know that eBay and amazon were selling the 2000 for 150.00.

Laguna is a great pump. No way you will be disappointed. It's perfectly priced, moves the right amount of water, and isn't loud.

Rafa, you can't go wrong with the laguna2000@$150 or be pimpn like schnitz and get the fluval sea@$350+….mystic koi in upland has a threaded adaptor
1/2"-1 1/4". That what I used when I ran my laguna1200. so no barbed needed.
