I was told this was a sort of "candy cane"... however now that I brought it home I'm guessing it's not.

Any ideas?

Also, is it starting to bleach out towards the bottom left? I noticed it is becoming more white on that section.... :dontknow: hmmm.. hope the trend doesn't continue!

Thanks,
Marcelo

your nitrates shouldnt be killing it, or phos.
Raise your SG to 1.024 at least, LPS don't need too much flow either. How about your lighting? Mine gets pissed off under halides, it likes low wattage best. good luck

It's definitely Caulastrea (candy cane/trumpet). These guys do not need much flow, actually their coralites are very sharp and they can cut and infect themselves with too much flow. Lighting isn't as big an issue, they'll do good with lots or not so much light. The 'bleaching' that your seeing probably isn't bleaching at all, just color shifting. Many Caulastrea have a light color (teal, green, even white) which looks almost like a powdery film on them. If they get rubbed on you'll see the spot that rubbed off. I'm thinking that's what you're seeing come back on yours. Nice piece :)
