So what did you guys come away with? Didn't Sanjay recently switch from MH to LED on his personal tank?
Yes he showed the electrical savings made, there weren't any.The LED's are slightly higher yearly by a percent or so in their power consumption. The biggest savings was in not buying bulbs every year plus no need for a chiller with the LED's.

He went with Radion G2 Pro's (six of them for his 500G tank) and he prefers full spectrum lights.
He showed a graph of power consumption and hours on for his lights but said all the write-ups are on his reefs.com page.
He said red was more important than blue.1) it is what corals use for photosynthesis and 2) blue is only partially used and the rest of its spectrum is thrown off as heat. Most vendors build their LED's with a predominant blue(which he doesn't like) and often no red. Blue is what gets the wow factor but doesn't add much to the coral growth like red does.
I remember him saying that green is what our eyes see the easiest. So if you want your 'stuff' to pop add green. It doesn't help growth, just looks good.

Just a note on that....Don't use green LEDs to add to the brightness. Use Lime Leds which are a form of green leds.
Is there a source for just lime green led's?
