Just had to say bye to my recent loss:

today, my CopperBand Butterfly fish who Ive had since 2005, thats 2500+ days of coming home and taking for granted my aiptasia-killer was on point.


last November, my flame angel who Ive had since 2006. He was literally 1inch thick & I think he ate himself to death, thankfully not on my coral. Now he is really an angel, if there are angel angelfish.... whatever!

I felt that way when my tank crash killed my 5 years old tangs puple, yellow and blue ( I was a size of a quarter when I bought it from ATA.
After that Its never been the same, Fishes just come and go:( literally.

I only have my dory and a yellow tang left from the original crew of 20 fish from my 1st reef tank.

you're right, all newcomers are just replacements...

I am hoping i am done replacing my fish and make it a permanent resident.

I only have few on my wish list

African female star leopard ( I never had one )
Red tail tamarin
A harem of fairy wrasse like rhomboid , Scott's fairy or flame wrasse no more lineatus for me too difficult.
For Angels bicolor and potters.

at least they went out know you cared for them and didn't go out with Ich ...hope you find a replacement that you can enjoy for another 5 years..I lost all my fish 5 years ago to ich and took a while to get more fish but lesson learned and won't go thru that again..
