Came across this YouTube video. Check out the baits they are using. Kiddie pool full of cool critters. Skip to the 6:20 mark if you wanna see what I'm writing about..

Haha. I've been seeing the hawaiian cuisine with this guy that spearfishes Hawaii. Long video but you can see him taking out so many fish we would die to be able to have in our tanks...

I was in Hawaii before and saw an old Hawaiian guy at the beach. He casted a net and pulled up lots of reef fish, then just started making his dinner at the beach. It was wild!

I once had an orange spotted rabbitfish attached to my stringer that wouldn't stop convulsing after death. may or may not have attracted a nice trevally for my next shot! Not as big as in the video, but enough to feed our boat!

This was in a remote part of Indo, btw. For the most part, I tried to be informed on what was good/ethical to shoot, but our captain basically said "shoot literally anything, I don't care what it is". Aside from the nice, meaty fish that would be obvious good eats, we also picked off a couple reef fish that were super abundant in the area. It was super odd coming back to the states and seeing last weeks lunch(clown tang + rabbitfish) being sold for $300 at an LFS lol

In Highschool, I worked on a commercial sport-fishing boat for the summers.
My first year I was an apprentice baiter.
by my 2nd year I was journeyman baiter.
my senior year, I was a master baiter.
