Got my healthy powder brown tang like 2 months ago. It was doing so well without any sign of ich. Recently, I see some ich on his body and I have been feeding him food with garlic. 90% of the white spots are gone but then today, I see a lot more on the body. Do tangs usually get ich due to weather change somehow?

Tangs are prone to ich as long as long as it's feeding you'll be fine. Once it's stops you should worry.

ich is really hard to TRULY eradicate. when it goes away from a fish, it just means that the fish is strong enough to fight it off, and when it comes back, it means the fish is stressed which allowed the ich to break through the fish's natural defenses to take root.

did you have any temp swings? add new fish? change the rock work? basically anything to stress the fish out?

A happy healthy fish will keep it at bay. Once it gets stressed for any given reason then it will show up in full force.

Keep an eye on your temp. I see that you live in corona and with these big fluctuations in our weather, so might your tank. What i meant by corona was i know that there are bigger temp swings due to proximity to the ocean.

I think it might the temp. I do have a heater in there but didn't turn it on since it was pretty hot in the summer. Hopefully everything is ok. I told myself not to buy a tang for this new tank but ended up buying three. :)

How big is your tank? Three tangs in one tank might also be a cause of stress depending on the size of the habitat or territory for each.

if the season changes inside your home then yes... LOL... like if your house don't have windows or something...

but i agree with most of the advice on here... feed them well, use something with garlic, and vitamins... the stronger the fish is against ich, the less outbreaks you will see...

Thanks for the advice people. I'm in the hobby long enough to know how to treat it. Just curious as to why all of a sudden he/she is getting ich. Still puzzle by this. Probably the temp swing like one reefers on here mentioned.

I'm so happy that 80% of the ich has gone away on the PBT. Keep fighting buddy! I thought it spreads to other fish but thank god it didn't. Crossing my fingers again.
