Nice colors with the added t5's smite, I am getting those cords fixed on the Cebu sun next week!

Just t5's and reefbrite xho's but pretty close to the xho's. It is at the top of the tank, sitting right under the reefbrite fixture. I need to take a photo of this with metal halides on as well. But the green to blue transition is pretty cool. This is a different coral from my last picture above.

Well, I could not find an excuse not to waste some more of the day, so I took a new picture with t5's reefbrite and metal halides all blaring away.

Fun seeing examples of some crazy colored sps. Lots of sps people out there with lots of named gems that are super rare and very cool. As well as more common acros but equally dramatically colored up.

Here's one of my acros that I think is cool looking.

Hopefully, fellow reefers will share their beauties, doesn't have to be rare or named, just good looking--viewer discretion advised

Hey Mark,
What the name of this beauty?:)

This one looks so much better in person. It's a super slow grower and from what I was told its in the same classification as purple monster looks like PM but blue/green color

It sure looks morphologically a lot like the purple monster. Got that "plump" kind of look and growth.

I think the purple monster is cool because of its history in reef keeping. It is truly an oldie and perhaps the first of limited editions before anyone knew what a limited edition was. There is a very interesting note on the purple monster as well: Unique Coral's described finding a source of it at the Solomon Islands in a post on another forum. I guess that is cool and bad. Right or wrong, I had always considered purple monster frags to have all originated from that original successful colony way back when. I certainly understand that there is more purple monster in the ocean, but its kind of strange when a "rare" coral or specific color morph becomes not so rare. Maybe Unique will become like Debeer's diamonds and hold all that inventory in their vaults.

I had found a frag of the purple monster a few years ago from Copp's, he is the saltwater angel expert and has an outstanding collection of sps. He has a for sale thread infrequently, usually years apart. Anyway, I got my purple monster frag from him. Did great with it for a long time, sold a frag to solitude127 (Mike) and when I lost my colony, Mike was kind of enough to give me a frag back, actually twice.

Cool photos

i agree with you mark even though there are more purple monster in the ocean. its not the real purple monster unless its from the same colony back in the day. thats what made it fun back then. trying to track down the lineage and story.
