I thought pellets where suppose to lightly spin or tumble not violently get whipped into a tornado

Man, since the inception of biopellets people have been trying to reinvent how to tumble them. Sounds like another gimmick to me.

I've tried 2 different TLF reactors (1 modified the other not) and a few different seaside aquatics ones and don't get a consistent tumble. Apart from the other reactors (cadlights br-1 or whatever) this seems like actually a plausible choice.

I don't think I would call it a gimmick, they are trying to reinvent how to keep pellets tumbling and not get bunched up. It seems like they are doing a pretty good job. The up flow reactors don't seem very consistent. Over time the pellets seem to bunch up and/or the pump gets gunked up so the pellets don't spin like they should.

Do u use BPs on ur tank? If so, what reactor are u using? I'm thinking about switching from my CADLights reactor. I think I just have too many pellets in it. Ive been looking at the reef octopus bio churn or maybe I'll just get the larger CADLights one.

I saw that the other day. Seems pretty cool but that's a bit fast right? I did have to clean my cadlights reactor as the pellets did start to tumble reeeeaaaallly slow after about 4 months. Man was that a pain in the ***. Took it out and all the holes on the plate were clogged with some kind of film algae. I think they are too small. Its been running again a couple months with no problems yet. But I'm sure it will happen again.

Ive been using the reef octopus for a few years and like it, just needs to get cleaned every so often or it stops tumbling. Takes up a lot of real estate in my sump too...

I have the same issues with my cadlight reactor. I really like the tumble and control it gives me with the pellets but adding pellets is a pain and cleaning it sucks. I was told that Eddie was working on these issues but I've not seen any new changes. Maybe he will have something new at rap. I'm thinking of trying another reactor too but I really want to keep it a recirculating reactor

I am using the aqua max reactor. Haven't had any issues yet. I also haven't cleaned it in 6 months. But I don't have it loaded with pellets so that might help with tumble
