Hey everyone, I posted my last tank on here when I first joined, but didnt post this one. I figure most of you guys are on the socal forum on RC, but my tank gets kind of lost in the general discussion section of RC, since it moves so quickly.
Heres are some specs:
36x36x20 shallow acrylic cube
400w Radium 20k powered by an icecap ballast, under a Lumenarc IIII
(2) Tunze 6080s
Warner Marine AS200 skimmer
Mag 18 return

And after 2 days of skimmate with just a yellow tang and flameback angel...

Here are some pics...
Frags going in...

I finally have enough coral, theyre just small and need to grow. hopefully the 400w of lights will help them grow!

Your getting an awesome amount of skimmate outta your as200! Are you noticing the same amount of skimmate production since you only have 2 fish? Ive got an AS200 also on my tank and its not pulling out that much skimmate.

Do you not have a silencer for your skimmer? It makes a HUGE difference in the noise level. Call up John Warner and ask him for one if you don't already have one.

I dont have a silencer, and I cant even hear my skimmer. I have my bottom open, and its about 5 feet from me. The water trickling through my sump is much louder than the skimmer, I cant even hear it.

I dose vodka also, so that may be why I get so much skimmate. That, and Ive only had the warner for a month, and its pulling out the crap the octopus 250 pro left behind. I also dont have the pump with the inlet going through the bottom of the place. I have it setting sideways, so its above the plate.

I picked up a couple new fish today. They're not the picasso or snowflake clowns I so desired, but theyre a little different. Theyre "Half Naked' clowns. The one only has one little spot on his left hand side, and totalle naked besides that. The other has the two on the side of the face, with a little white saddle. I also picked up some acans and zoas in the trade for my 60g cube. Including a good 6 heads of Orange Crush, 2 heads of green/grey acan, with 3-4 little baby heads coming up, along with a huge acan (probably 40 heads or so). For zoas, rings of fire, magician palys, jokers, "cotton candy", RPE's, and some real nice torquoise zoas (Along with others). Here are some pics needless to say.

The tanks still up for sale. If it doesnt sell for what I want, then I'll keep it. Im HOPING I'll have to sell it within the next year, assuming I get accepted to a law enforcement job/academy. Im not to motivated to sell it, since I sold my 60g cube. I just needed to get rid one of the two. Everything I have is always for sale, for the right price ;) lol.

Thanks for the compliment. I did just now photoshop the pics a touch, but its to get the blue from the pics out. For some reason the crappy Kodak easyshare DOES NOT agree with the radiums.

If I do sell it, I'll be taking a break until after a law enforcement academy I eventually get into. Then Id like to come back with something around 72x36x24 or around there. Id probably just get some sort of smaller cube, nano cube, biocube, etc to keep my naked clowns in, along with my clam. The SPS are doing very well. Theyre coloring back up, I think my light was bleaching them out. The 400w radium is only about 8" above the water level, so theyre getting some good light, and now actually growing a little.

I was also just considering setting up a 20g or so RODI top off bucket next to the tank, so I didnt have to worry about it while I was gone. Thats my main concern at this point.

While Im posting, here are some pics of my half naked clowns I got this weekend. I picked up the pair for pretty cheap.

I like them. One is naked on one side, with a white spot on his cheek. The other just has a couple stripes, with a small white saddle. Theyre cool, social little fish. Theyre always swimming at the front of the tank.

Cool fish, i need some naked clowns in my tank but their always so darn expensive.
Get the biggest rodi reseivor possible, you'll never have to worry about your evaporation again. I got a 65g drum for top off and it would last me 2 or 3 months of top off lol.

Yeah, Reefer, I was thinking that. I was going to put my 55g barrel in the living room next to the tank and maybe put some sort of cover over it, for the 6 months (When I hopefully make the academy). I was going to try something risky, and calculate the average of water that is evaporated every day, and put vodka into my top off water. Its the only way my SPS stay alive really. I got the naked clowns for pretty cheap, I guess because theyre not totally naked. I Dont really like totally naked clowns. They were $48 for the pair, and theyre ORA, so i Was happy. Id really like to buy the pair of ORA picassos bigian has for sale, but theyre $250, which is more than I can afford at this point, lol.

Thanks for the ocmpliment on that acan, but its pink in person, dont know why its orange in the pic, lol. I do have some orange crushes, though.

vodka in top off water sounds like a good idea. Id pm randy homles farley on RC and ask him whats his opinion on it though. Are you dosing 2 part daily? Id worry about calcium/alkalinity while your at the academy if i was you, its the most important thing.

I dont dose anything right now. My calcium is a little high (Around 500 ppm) and I only dose the seachem powder calcium right now. I definitely already planned on throwing some b ionic in the top off water also. Itd just really have to be enough to make it through the week days, since Id make the 4 hour drive home over the weekends. I can always adjust the levels during the weekends as they need. Who knows, I may not even get accepted, and it may all be for not, lol. Id just rather plan ahead and be prepared, just in case.

I dont have too many corals as it is anyways. I might just ask a local reefer to hold them for me for 6 months, or just sell them off. If I do get accepted, my first thing I plan to buy is a tank upgrade. Im thinking 72x36x20, basically just twice the length of my tank right now.

All of it is a long ways away, though.
