Devastated that my system has Ich…

I have quarantined all fish and none of my fish have had Ich

- 9x reef chromis
- 2x captive bred occelaris clowns
- 1x biota yellow tang (tiny)

he had Ich before and I took him out and put him in copper and in quarantine for 6 weeks and he was clean and healthy after

none of the other fish have had it or have it…

I added a UV sterilizer changed and changed all the media and didn’t add any fish while he was gone

I can’t get the other fish out to run fish less

he doesn’t seem stressed or like he’s getting bullied by anyone and is eating all the sea weed, different macro algae, and spiralina frozen food.

im so bummed and want to see if anyone has any advise to how I can keep him in, not go fish less, and help him beat this

what success has anyone had at beating the disease without removing fish from display?

also so far it’s just a few dots on his side little fins… just popped up today

thanks in advance for the answers!

You quarantined your fish but do you quarantine inverts, corals, etc? anything wet can bring in ich.

just cause you don't see signs of ich doesn't mean its not there, the quarantine didnt do much since hes the only fish you quarantined so that's why he got ich as soon as he went in cause its still present in your tank.

Fishes immune system is down a bit after copper treatment which is probably why he got it again.

your best bet right now is just to keep him fat and H2O2 dose if you wanted to try that.
ive been doing that at the moment and my yellow tang had ich on the first week I got it, it has since gone away but youre supposed to do it for roughly 6 weeks.

anthonys_aqyua is spot on, copper does suppress immune system health in fish during and probably after treatment. You'll see a lot of tangs develop HLLE while in copper because of that.

Also pay attention to where you buy the fish from. Straight from biota probably pretty safe being captive bred facility. If ordered from a fish store they probably don't have a dedicated "biota" tank or system which means the fish is exposed to ich and other parasites. If they do, well that's just awesome and a stand out store.

If your other fish were not QT'd like mentioned above they have ich and potentially other parasites but stronger immune systems at this point. You do not want to go fishless so you need to work on strengthening the fishes immune system.

Nori is great in addition to quality food for boosting that tangs immunes system but don't think of that as the staple of it's diet just because it's a grazer. If you really want to continue to feed mysis or brine cubed type food you'll need to supplement them with something like Selcon. Or some other fatty acids and aminos geared towards fish. I trust and use Selcon but I would also trust anything made by brightwell but that's just my experience.
Or skip the middle man and start feeding a quality frozen food like LRS or Rods Reef. They are more expensive but much better quality. They are also "dirtier" with various sized particles but that's a plus in my book. Coral and fish food in one.

I used to QT everything after being bit by velvet 2x. After learning that I'd need to QT coral ect I just moved on to feeding more and focusing on not over stocking or creating a stressful tank environment for the most part. So far, so good.

I would skip the garlic unless it's finicky eater. Some swear by it but I don't think it does much for immune system support.

Thank you so much for your reply. This is really helpful. Going to try H2O2

I actually feed Nori daily and put some chaeto out for him and have some designer macro he snacks on all day.
I feed the LRS nano which he loves as well.
Will order some Slecon rn

and it’s actually chart house on a big day!

Be careful with it, there are some consequences to it, for certain I know my shrimps died due to it. Never saw an issue with any other cuc, probably killed some good bacteria as well though but we'll see when I do an aquabiomics test later
