Hey guys - I'm finally setting up a new 60 cube and I need input on the best for our soon to be SPS rimless.

Last week we were thinking AI hydra HD 52, now after RAP we are thinking the Radion XR15pro.

We've got the SCA starfire cube, and probably getting the bubble magus curve 5, fluval sp2 pump (hopefully the quietest out there?), and MaxSpect gyre 130.

Husband will weld up a custom stand. Should be pretty shiny all set up...

TIA!

whitrose02 I'd say get two as well, I have a cube tank 24 x 24 x 20 and I originally had one XR15 but the spread wasn't good enough so I ended picking another one up.

For SPS, you may want to consider 2 Hydra 26s or Radion 15 for better coverage. With only 1 light, you'll get shading on the edges.

My aquascaping will account for that. I've got 2 exposed sides (it will go in a corner) so I'm already primarily sticking to one corner anyway.

I'd suggest you look into a 6x24w Sunpower if you're serious about an SPS dominant tank. You're going to want an even spread and minimal shadowing, that can be a challenge to achieve with LEDs alone.

If you're sold on going led for a sps dominant tank, my choice would be radion xr30w. Also if you plan to use the mp's for additional flow, it's pretty neat how they sync up.

It took two AI sol blue lights with the 70 degree optics to cover my SCA 66g well. I'm sure the 52 have more spread, but it is the same foot print so I'm not sure it's going to double the sols.

SPS is not about power but even spread. LED can do a nice spread but you need to have a couple of pucks. If you want guaranteed SPS growth go with a 6x24 or 8x24 sunpower and call it a day. LED wise instead of a single Radion or Hydra you would be better off with 2x Hydra 26 vs 1x Hydra 52. If you want to save some money the main difference between the Hydra and Hydra HD is the built-in controller. Many people are selling their older Hydras with Director so you can probably score a couple of Hydra 26's for cheap.

Just got a hydra 26 hd and so far I like it alot easy to use and color options are great. On my 60 cube with t5 x2 blue+.

Or just throw a reef Brite on the sun power if you want the best of both

No t5's guys. They simply aren't sustainable long term. I'd rather spend more on the led then supplement with t5ho like I had in the past. All those bulbs - bad for the environment.

Wow so I shouldn't b serious about sps in my led only lite tank!
I'm calling BULL F****** S***!
I've heard the statements that LEDs don't grow sps like T5s or halides. I say BS. I have no problem growing sps in my tank and hears the prof.

Edited
I went from MH to LEDs.
So I'm currently running 5 gen1 radions over my 300 gallon

I do run my radions at a 100% for 6 hours a day. Here my lighting schedule

I'm getting great coloring and growth from my sps. Yes MHs are probably way better but. I'm running 5 gen 1 radions with a manufacturing date of 1/2012 or older. Just the money I'm saving not replacing bulbs is worth it to me.
Here's a few growth pics from that last few months
