My Tank Build
#2
DIY because my Gen 2 maxspect's kept burning out.
I like the aquatic life one but I want to be able to switch out bulbs/drivers myself without having to send it to a factory.

AI Sol blues x 2 for my DT and AI nano for my pico frag tank.

Mixed reef transitioning to SPS. Zoas, palys, frogspawn, torch, clams, birdsnest, red planet, RR milli, and another RR SPS frag.

I chose AIs cuz they were the new shiznits at the time. Before Radions, Kessil, reefbreeders, etc. Corals are growing and color is decent so no complaints.

I went with ecoxotic marine pros 48" because I like the clean canopy look. It covers my tank and my corals love. I only have softies nems clams and polyps. Also got the optional controller for it and can't be happier atm

Diy led first fixture 24cree leds from rapid... did well with softies zoas and some sps

New toy diy t5/led hybrid... 26 phillips luxon leds and coral+ and blue+ t5 bulbs...this can be found in the diy sectikn... chose this route because I don't feel the need to pay people to solder for me... I also enjoy building stuff.

Sps, lps and zoas

Bridgelux LEDs cuz they were cheapest. Went with dimmable Meanwell drivers connected to my apex. After a couple months of running only blues and whites, i did the whole full spectrum setup. After about 6 months of only LEDs/full spectrum, I decided I hated my life cuz my SPS looked like Poo. I bought a Coralvue 660 ballast and added 4-t5s....never looked back. Single best decision I have made in reefing so far.

I think it was mostly my fault, the way I laid out the leds wasnt very good on the ol par meter. And I hated the green and red LEDs. I ended up keeping the 420nm LEDs....why?? Cuz the Internet told me so. Lol

Next build is 28-3w Phillips luxeon in a 6x24 t5 ATI fixture. I'm running non dimmable Meanwell drivers. They're really small, so they will fit perfect in the ATI fixture. (I think they're apc35-700) I got all the stuff to do it, but I'm being lazy.

My Tank Build

Radion's cause I'm dumb and figured ecotech could program my light cycle for me. I just setup what time I want them to turn on and off and a intense, that's it.

I've never seen a full sps tank with hydras.

I've never seen any tank with less than 3 radions or AI's that didn't look dark in the corners.

I went DIY led full spectrum with Cree LEDs for a year and loved it. I had good colors in my tank.

When I upgraded tanks I needed more coverage so I added T5's. it was an improvement on what i already thought was nice. now I have good colors and good growth.

I'm stuck on chosing which led is right for me too. I have been doing research and reviews for the past 2 weeks, but I still can't decide. What did you end up getting?
