i hope this helps
eliiots pets
fish fantasy
mystic reef
treasures of the sea
coral sea
salties.
aquarium in motion. just moved to corona
salties.
find your store and stay with it. some stores are outright wrong with some of the practices but you will find that out on your own. dont want to bash on anyone here. some like big fish other corals other sps it just depends what one likes in there tank

Lol....Salties. If you're gonna go to Salties, you might as well give Pet World in San Bernardino a try. Both places are overpriced and have terrible husbandry practices. You're best bet is The Mystic Reef. Great selection, prices, and Adam and Jeremy are cool guys

I could try to help you out also. I am in Banning though. About 40 mins from Riverside. I am very honest. There are a few people on this site that can tell you the same thing. From what I hear, fair on prices.

salties hooks me up better than mystic reef could dream of. and will tell me the truth rather than selling something to make a quick buck..he has a few clowns and sps that people die for..salties knows more then any lfs here and has been in business the longest. you want to tell me hes a joke and then mention ELLIOTS?!?!?!?!?!?!
get real. if you want a good quality store that knows what their doing in the hobby then look around..mystic isnt all the hype..
treasures of the sea will tell you if your tank is good for the fish but prices are a joke and all about profit. coral by the sea has some dumb kid off the street who can raise freshwater bettas. fish fantasey needs to be freshwater only because they have overpriced shrimp and horrible quality coral. no sps. aquarium in motion has pretty good prices and isnt all about profit. another that just went out of business is liquid salt but he'll still work from his house, and hes knowledgable and not about the profit. Far west in temecula is a really good lfs as well he works the best prices and great quality fish. just look around for yourself but dont bash salties because you asked a price on a rimless 500 gallon with custom stand and couldnt fit your budget ;)

i would not go to salties even if my freinds were buying me the fish.. anyone whom sells a large grouper and and green moray for over 450.00. to someone with a 90 gallon tank. that is the worst recomendation from any lfs i have ever seen in my life. and they ripped the customer off too. personally i like posted prices and do not like to haggle over everything.. but then again i have not steped in his store for over two years, and probably never will agian maybee his fish ethics have changed. i hope so. looking for big fish go there. i still remember giving him homemade cookies on year as a way of saying thanks to see his wife throw them away and mumble smack about me. so here is back at ya...=) looking for fair prices elliots is consistant and does get stock every monday. nice pet store all in all just does not specialze in saltwater.
The best looking store by far used to be crystal cove. i know they moved and have not been to there new location i hope it is just as nice. that place used to be awesome. looking for store run by hobbiest try mystic reef or aquirium in motion.
treasure of the sea. hmm will not sell you fish if your tank is not ready. i like that personally. healthy fish but tanks have cyno or at least did the last time i was in there. prices seemed fair for a lfs. but we are all hobbiest who what to pay full retail.
fish fantasy been around the longest of all of the lfs. much experience and decent stuff when they have it. but not always full of stock.
coral sea. have not been in a while but one sunday a high end part broke and they saved the day for me and no other lfs would have had it. nice to have a high end store local.

anyone buying a grouper period with a 90g should not be in the hobby...i dont know about your past experiences but all of mine have been great for a long time now. if your all about prices then you get what you pay for, such as elliots. disgusting..teenagers who know nothing about anything saltwater..their tanks are full of dead fish and $12 a clownfish is pretty typical of every lfs..elliots is the same as petco. i wasnt saying treasures of the sea is bad for telling you that your tank isnt ready, i was saying thats a good thing. there just way too overpriced. but your right the tanks do look good with healthy fish. the tanks dont have cyano, red algae on the rocks though (good thing). fish fant is a joke..she always has to make profit even if its .50 cents. i negotiate to buy two fish and she wouldnt take off $5 so i walked out and she lost $200. after her friend told her she would sell me it for that out the door, she disagreed and went in the back and yelled at her. pathetic. seems we both have our opinions and have been to alot of lfs...

Fish fantasy sold me a healthy 3.5" typical sized powder brown for $20, I was happy and thought I got a good deal and by the way they are starting to get into sps. I agree Treasures of the Sea is overpriced I don't go back there anymore because of that. Salties, allegedly, tried to sell a yellow tang to somebody who was new at saltwater at the time and was only 2-weeks into the cycle, the ammonia was still reading .25ppm and he said that it would be just fine and tried hard to sell the tang. As far as buying coral goes in Riverside, I will stick with Aquarium in Motion and Mystic Reef. And for buying fish, I think I would stick with Fish Fantasy, you don't find fish with ich at fish fantasy, I think they may run a little copper in the system, but at least the fish look good.
