what is everyone's favorite reef shop for fish around LA or OC area? I know there's a lot of nice ones out in the Valley

A lot of stores I go to seem to just carry very bread and butter fish and variety is just lacking. Also the prices at the store are very Live aquaria priced or I don't know if I've just been spoiled by Ellis

If you're looking for some healthy fish and sometimes clams, then Seaside is a good stop. Their coral selection is not the best.

Tong's is hit-and-miss with healthy fish, but they have a good selection. They also have a decent coral selection, but are mostly overpriced.

Seaside always has a nice array of fish. They just got a shipment yesterday in fact. Just recently set up a tank again and as always I never venture beyond the $10 frag tank. Enough beauty in there for me. Haven’t been to Tongs for a long time, long time. I personally never had a fish survive from that store. Not sure why. Nice shop to stroll through and things always looked healthy. Years since I’ve been to Age. Back when I went it was mostly his stock for his maintenance business.
I don’t need to venture far to satisfy my needs.
What seems to be missing now is all the backyard importers. Guys with sheds full of tanks selling clowns for $5 each, variety of tangs for $10-15, clams $25-50, Chromis and damsels $2-3. They never had coral, just fish.

Amazing aquariums and reefs. Ali is one of the most solid dudes in the industry. Seaside is great for fish too. Reef lounge for corals

+1 for seaside in HB for fish. I've gotten most of my fish and inverts there with no problems. Their coral selections is not the best tho. I wouldn't go to Tong's. Their fish usually seem to not be healthy or live long.

A lot of places shut down that I remember. Pacific Reef by name is gone. There was a small shop further down on Brookhurst as well. One on the corner of Magnolia/Garfield. Newland/Warner just North of the freeway. Garden Grove blvd./Hoover? Beach/Chapman.
That’s quite a few we in HB had access to besides the others mentioned. All good little shops.
