Ok I am thinking of going with an 8 bulb T5 system 4 long, probably Aquatic life or something similar. But recently have been thinking of doing MH T5 Combo. Any recommendations on the 8 system or the combo would be appreciated. I aim to have sps some softies mainly sps.
Thanks

Juan

I was researching this same question for the same size tank I'm setting up. I'm intending a mixed reef with SPS and clams so light was definitely a priority.

I ended up with an 8 bulb T5 fixture but got plenty of opinion that a 6 bulb would do it. Even a 6 bulb T5 36" (so 39w per bulb) fixture would work I was told. At some point in the future I may take out 2 or 3 bulbs to add LEDs but for a while I'm going to just use the 8 bulb. Good luck!

I chose to not go with MH because of the watts and heat. You might need some brownie points for a chiller and light bills. But I don't know your setup so maybe not....just something you should consider. If it weren't for those two things I would def have gone with a MH/T5 combo...I hear tons of good things about that fixture as far as coloration and growth.

I have 6 x t5's (ATI) on a frag tank, and on the display metal halides and t5 combo (Geissman). Love the color and intensity of the metal halides, hate the heat, electricity and chiller. It seems to be a t5 & LED combo world these days, but I am old school (and proud of it).
