Going to be setting up my 120 in about 3 weeks. I have everything for the setup to get up and running though will need live rock. I'm planning to have a local store bring back uncured live rock from LA at about $2 a lb. I would then cure in my tank with rodi/instant ocean and sand for about 6 weeks till fully cycled with a piece of shrimp. Is there a better source for live rock? Also, getting uncured live rock am I avoiding majano and aptasia? Going to order 50 lbs for a start and build from there. Any feedback is welcome. Thanks!

clarify uncured live rock. If it's dry rock then yes you will avoid bringing in pests. The uncured live rock that I'm aware of is the kind that is dying and dirty and can bring in some pests but that's with any live rock. Basically it's at a premature phase prior to harboring the good bacteria. Also, if it's the latter then I wouldn't put it directly into the tank but let it cure in a bucket. If it's just dry rock then it's up to you if you want to toss it straight in or let it cure separately.

Will be the dying rock. I have large brute can I can cure it in. Good suggestion. Less water to change during the process.

its gonna be nasty for sure. If it's really filthy you may want to consider drying it and cleaning it in muriatic acid and do a fresh start.
