so, like 8 months after the 180g has been "running", i finally got around to getting the refugium section of the sump wet this weekend.

tossed in the clump of chaeto that's been sitting in the overflow.

i wanna put something in there, but not sure what. suggestions?

oh, and anyone in or between LB / OC with chaeto to spare, i'd like a little bit, just to diversify the population.

everyone's offering chaeto, but no one has suggestions for sump livestock?.. >_<

i ordered up some mangroove seeds. it's more for looks than actual nutrient export. gonna grow them in the sump til it's big enough to put in the DT.

I have fish in mine. You can put anything you want down there! I've had it as a frag tank, clam garden, macro algae tank. But now it's just chaeto and some fish hahaha. If I could keep the chaeto down I'd like to put an angler down there. I e always wanted one. I had sea horses in there for a while. Worked really well but having the lights on opposite schedule, and needing to feed twice was cray. Good luck Jeff. And if you need frags let me know!

angler is my first choice too, but theyre hard to get to eat.. :(

sea horse / pipefish would be cool, but it kinda defeats some of the purpose of having the refugium - breeding grown for pods. those would clean them out.. >_<

Do it Jeff. DO IT! It'll probably make me do the same. Honestly I have pods growing EVERYWHERE in my sump. So even though j have pod eating fish in my fuge I still have a ton in my tank.
